How soon people head home tends to depend on the weather. If it's been wet overnight or it's wet in the morning then the campers tend to leave early. Some will always leave fairly early if they have a long journey home and if it's wet in the morning a lot of the day trippers don't come.
If it's dry and sunny on Sunday then the day trippers will go then and not Monday and if Monday starts wet then the combination results in a deserted show ground.

Hi, sorry to jump on this thread but is it worth travelling from N.Ireland to this show?? Got a notion of a kit based on an MX5 or more likely a Z3.
It would cost me just under £100 for flights and then expenses from Birmingham to the event. (Whats the travel network like around that area the shows at?)
Any help greatly appreciated.

If you're thinking of building it's the only show you shouldn't miss. It has the most comprehensive list of exibitors and (with decent weather) the biggest display of owners cars by far than any other show. Sunday would be better than Mon for the reasons said earlier.
Can't comment on the transport links other than to say Stoneleigh is out of town so I'd expect not the easiest with public transport.

Thanks for that - Just thinking Sunday might be tight for me so Monday would be better. Does the show itself be intact til the end of the day or does everyone give up and go home early? Can't comment on the transport links other than to say Stoneleigh is out of town so I'd expect not the easiest with public transport.

If the weather;s good then that will have an effect. Lets be positive folks - 'cos if we say it shuts early on Monday, then some won't turn up at all...... resulting in it shutting early! It's the best show there is - that's why people come by their hundreds from the continent as well. Highlight of the kit Car year without a doubt.

Shouldn't Pistonheads have an article up about Stoneleigh by now?
No need, just read last years. Or the year before's. To be honest I quite enjoyed the show but it is a bit samey, no new attractions and glad I didn't persuade the grandkids to come, they'd have been bored rigid and it'd have been, "are we going home yet" all afternoon.Don't know what the organisers can or should do to spice it up a bit, but as a show for grown up's and Dad's to pick up hard to find bits and tools and stuff, it's pretty good.

I enjoyed it, particularly being my first time, but I wouldn't go back every year. I managed to gather all the information I needed so factory visits are up next. I think the trouble is that too many of the exhibits were static, the only movement was the drift experience Westfield, the odd car shuffling about and an Ultima GTR on a turntable.Gassing Station | Kit Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
