Hi guys big panic here. My TV keeps turning itself off and then on again and it makes it impossible to work with. I have checked the cable, plug socket and other remotes and controllers that could interfere but its not working. Any ideas ?. Its important I get it fixed as I use it as a monitor for my coursework. Thanks guys.

Wow, How weird is this?!!!
After 3+ years, yesterday afternoon our TV started switching itself off and on again, and the controls wouldn't work.

We've got a Samsung, so I searched for issues and got 10million+ results of faulty capacitors... so this morning I tore the back off the TV, all capacitors looked OK, but I bought some replacements and soldered them in.

Hooked it all back up and had exactly the same issue.

I moved the Tv just for better access and didn't have an aerial, but noticed that when switched on, with no signal it was NOT cycling the power?
Very odd, anyway after about 20 mins of dicking around, I deduced that the problem was coming from the signal for 1 channel only.

That troublesome channel was "Channel 4 +1".
I know how unlikely this sounds!, but as soon as I set it to C4+1 the controls stopped responding and the TV reset.
Any other channel and the TV functions fine.

So I have deleted C4+1 off our channel list, and so far (for the past 3 hours anyway), it's not reset.

So try that!!!

My Samsung did the same on Sunday night. After checking Google I cleaned the tiny controls on the front (didn't even know they were there), removed the HDMI cable and turned it off for 10 minutes. It's been fine ever since but no idea which thing fixed it.

Amusingly, it was my mother-in-law who was fiddling with the remote when ours switched off!

My philips plasma did this. Was getting too hot. Tv enginer picked it up fixed it and returned all for £120. Good value I thougt.

if your red light is flashing in a pattern then note this since it may highlight the problem.

Hmm, have you tried factory reset & re-tune? Only thing you can really try if it's on one channel. Reminds me of when they did something to the freeview signal that knackered my old (excellent) Pioneer box. Pioneer never did a firmware update to fix it as they said it was too old frown

Just come home from work and our 3 year old Samsung led TV is cycling between on and off and the control will not work. It's stuck on c4 + 1 as well how weird Is that. Wife in panic we would need to replace it and just replaced a blown turbo in my car, so ouch. Luckily still under richer sounds 5 year warranty. However switched off and turned to bbc 1 and so far so good.

So now C4 + 1 is banned. smile

I find it baffling that a channel can be doing that to televisions. I wonder what causes that one channel to have such and impact.

Got home last night to find our TV was broken as well?

It's a three year old Samsung that won't stay on for more than 30 seconds before it turns itself off as well. Was watching E4.

WTF??

Had to go to the pub with the wife instead.

Anyone know how to fix this with a hangover?

Sound's like a software bug, like trying to decode subtitles and crashing or something.

Interesting.

How you been Paul! Do you remember the good old days of Gears Of War? Online on the Xbox just isn't the same nowadays.
