I going to do a home study course in autumn, anyone done this? How hard is it? Anything I can read up on that can help me?
Cheers.

I did National a couple of years ago, then international just before the two combined. I bought the course notes from EOS and the David Lowe book and read them a few times. I also looked at past papers on the OCR website. It was tough, but interesting. I passed both first time. I don't know how the combined paper would compare.

Thanks for the reply, I have seen the David Lowe books, which would you recommend, I'm thinking RHA home study pack at 160 quid as well.

Buy the notes from Eos - they're a fair bit cheaper. If I'm honest, I only used the Lowe book for further reading on things I was interested in. If you want to pass the exam and you're half bright, the home study notes and a lot of looking at past papers will see you right. It's also worth looking at the examiner's comments for each exam. Most problems are caused by not reading the question properly.

Maybe GC8, I have been driving class one for 21 years this week, I wouldn't mind a change, just thinking of the next 20 odd years you know.

Okay, done my research and I gave decided on a home study pack off EOS training, this is 115 quid and is widely considered the best training pack available, the exam will cost a further 150 ish on top of that, I intend to study whilst I'm away and bin my job in October time.
The idea being to get some sort of planners job next year, my other idea is to remote manage a few owner drivers to make my money up and get a job outside the industry, any thoughts comments on this.
