Usual question I suppose. Tried on a Blue Black GMT today at H&I Edinburgh. Liked it much more then I expected, even with the shiny centre links.
The nitty gritty though £5950

What would you expect to pay? They had at least two in the store. He never asked if I'd be looking to trade my date sub, so it looked to me like straight sale only.

My god it's fancy in there too..

Iconic showing one at £5,900:

http://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/rolex-gmt-master-ii...

So, my best guess is you'd be very lucky to see any discount at all frown

However, do ask them and see what they say as it would be interesting to track the prices on these.

Also, I believe there is a price increase coming so maybe don't hold out too long!

Thanks. I shall keep you posted if I proceed. It really didn't look like the kinda place for horsetrading, but there is no way I won't be asking for something off.
Can't help myself. There must be a fair margin in it to play with.
My daft wife didnt help much, she was saying "ooooh go on, get it !"

As an aside, I can't believe how pricey these things are now.
I think (bit hazy) 2350 new AD for my D/sub about ten years ago.
Can that be right?
Wages haven't gone up by that margin round these parts.

I would doubt you'd get any discount at all. Laings in Glasgow had a second hand one for sale a couple weeks ago for £5,600, so they're value seems to be holding on in there!

Robert Gatward in Ipswich have a 2014 GMT 2 black / blue for £5650 in the window ( I think , but it could be £5850 as I couldn't see the price clearly) will double check tomorrow as I'm walking past on the the way to work.

You could always call them on 01473 231539, I know they have a bi metal 2014 sub for £8k as well, if that's your bag .

other option is a 0% interest deal from goldsmiths etc. 20% deposit rest over 2 years. Believe you may have to wait a couple of months though.

Ive not seen anybody giving discounts on the blue/black. Full retail everywhere. 0% interest is as good as a discount as your going to get i reckon.

About £6300 in a few weeks time when Rolex put their prices up.
That along with the pepsi now being only white gold should make a used S/S pepsi a sensible purchase right about now.

You can only ask. However, given that Iconic are punting these out at near enough list, and other grey dealers are asking list, I'd be surprised if they offer you anything other than a free service.

They are still a bit difficult to get hold of through Rolex AD's. My local one says he hasn't had any since they came out, so if your AD still has it, I'd get it bought, given the rumours of an imminent price rise.

They had at least two in stock on Sunday. Lovely things.

The free service is a good idea, hadn't thought of that. Got to be worth 500 or so come the time it is needed.
Cheers

Wel the story was that it had belonged to one of Laings' directors, so they probably got it at an obscene discount in the first place!

Laings are a pleasure to deal with, imho. I've bought 3 Rolexes and an AP from them. But, the BLNR GMT is not as rare as folks make out. Even Hamilton and Inches across the road in George St had one in the window a short few weeks ago. I think you'd be good for 5% off, but pushing it for more from them. Try for the free service, but they can't do it in-house yet...

I ended up paying full price for mine. Whilst I was buying it, someone else came in for it too so no problem selling the allocated stock in London it seems the big dealers get a couple per month

Duty free t5 say they occasionally get them but won't hold and they sell the day they arrive. Only duty free for ex eu travel

Clincher for me was the rumoured price rise and the new Pepsi being made of unobtanium

+1 from me, bought several watches from them Omega/Iwc/Rolex & AP, always lovely folk to deal with and even if H&I was cheaper I'd still go to Laings.
Plus they're a JLC AD now which makes my world complete lol

You're not wrong.

Agree on the Laings thing. Bought my wife one there a few years ago. Great to deal with, Not much off though on a mid size in S/steel.

The guy at H&I on George St said that the new Rolex room had a watchmaker attached. Wouldn't the service be done there?
