Some one else has said the same on BM and doing a quick comparison on Google images it does look like a winner for crusader.

How long is it ? It looks about 17/18 ft. in the pic. Both crusaders and avengers were deep v hulls suitable for use in the sea so the hulls are quite strong. A 90 hp motor would be suitable. Make sure you get the right stainless steel prop. to suit your needs- aluminium ones are a waste of time.

Should be around 16ft, I think.

A decent 90 would make it scoot along pretty good.

It might take 90hp, but I'd want to confirm it with whoever built the thing; without that, looking at the transom and the structure around it I'd not put more than 60hp on the back. Even with only 60hp it will be alarmingly fast, those things don't weigh much.

Think you are being a little bit nanny state there. A 16 footer of that type will happily take a 130 indeed I have seen people put 200hp on the back of simaler but I would not recommend it.
90 would be ideal.
Things have changed a lot in reacent years you can now buy 9 foot jet bikes pushing 270hp that I think is just madness but there you go.
As some one above said find out what the rating was from the manufacture as no insurance company will pay out if you exceed that.
A 60hp will scoot as said but I think you will soon get bored and have problems trying to get a larger adult skiier out of the water.
Any thing 90 to 130 would be ideal and more than likely within the manufactures recommendations.
As for stainless props you don't really need to bother aluminium will do just fine you are not planning on racing the thing after all. And if you ding it as is all to easy it won't cost the earth to replace.

It's a crap choice for pulling waterskiers, there's not really room for more than 3 people and even then a rearfacing seat will take up a lot of room. It will be frustrating to try and ski behind, better sticking with inflatables for mucking about and having fun. The problem with fitting gargantuan power is that it will suck a gargantuan amount of fuel; even a 60 will guzzle 5-6 gallons per hour at speed. There's also the weight issue; a 90 is an enormous boat anchor for such a small hull when there's so little freeboard aft.

The boat will take 5 people with a bench seat.
If you wanted to have a rear facing seat why would it take up any more room?
If you buy a boat like this why would you not want to ski behind it they are called ski boats after all.
What did we all do before the RIB craze started?
Agreed a 90 will suck more fuel than a 60hp at full throttle but hey it's your hand on the throttle just back it off a bit.
Some late 90hp 2 strokes shared the same 3 cylinder blocks and legs as the 60 hps so no real weight difference.

Hidetheelle I'm sorry I disagreed with you but I do speak from many years experience and I am sure there are many more with better advice than me. You have some valid points no offence ment.

Cheers for the coms gents
I have managed to get a 1980s 90hp evinrude with elec trim today so we will se how that sits on it,
I have a trailer but measuring the boat it looks like it will hang of the back of the trailer by about 6-700mm
Do you think this is ok or is it too small ?

Can you move the axles right to the rear of the trailer?

Let's have a picture of it; it might be all right, but it's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. Whether the boat+engine will balance on the trailer is more important.
