An exhaust option to cut open silencer box & replace with straight through pipe with wadding reinserted?

Currently standard system on my 500 lookihg for a tad more fruitiness without sacrificing touring noise levels ie subtle mod.

Always meant to do do it - what can i expect?

You don't need to cut open the boxes, just sleeve them.

Several threads running on noise and exhausts but many will say it will sound like a tractor smile

I have mine sleeved and until I can afford a Y Piece it suits me. Its especially good at popping at the moment, seems to like Tesco Momentum.

Best to get to a meet and listen to a few.

I half sleeved mine. Cut open the box and cut the perforated pipe in half and replaced with solid stainless, then put the wadding back in. IIRC the perf pipes are 2 1/4" ID.
It sounds nicer but not too loud. A bit less " woolly" than the standard setup. Slightly louder pops but more noticeable when warmed up.

I thought you had to cut open the box to be able to get to the perforated pipe which you then "sleeve".

Looked at your profile - does that mean you do track days?
Sleeving might give you issues with the dreaded noise limits on track.
Pre-cats and main cat out, Clive Y in, standard silencer = circa 105 dB
