Unfortunately the only UK site reporting this seems to be everyone's favourite daily.

What a cold bd. Yes he can defend his home but he recorded the audio of when he shot them.

Hell of a case. Gruesome.

Interesting case.

Finishing her off with a shot under the chin may be a little extreme though.

Defending your home or killing in cold blood?

The two 'perps' don't look like I'd expected them too either.

She's quite fit

Certainly a very dark incident. Sounds like he was doing more than just protecting his home to me.

The horrifying audiotape came after jurors listened to an interview from the day after the shootings in which Smith matter-of-factly described what happened in chilling detail, telling authorities he finished Kifer off with a shot under her chin because a .22-caliber 'doesn't go through bone very well.'

Sick bd.

Kids shouldn't have been there but I think he crossed a line executing them frown

I try not to click the Mail/Guardian bait links, but I did this time. Apart from the obvious attempt to make us focus on her looks :cough: Dan :cough: I got about here:

Mail said:
Court documents from another case show Brady had burglarized Smith's property at least twice in the months before he was killed.
and lost all sympathy. Premeditated home defence?

Whilst I agree completely with the right to defend yourself and property in your own home, this goes way over the line.

I can understand that yanks are armed, that he waited in ambush and that he shot as they came down the stairs. What i fail to grasp is the execution shot under the chin and in to the face. Also the delay of not reporting it until the following day.

This isn't fair defence, this was murder.

I can understand why he felt the way he did after multiple break-ins, most people would feel on edge. Unfortunately, his anger tipped too much and rather than calling the police he took matters into his own hands.

Also appears that the teens had stolen from a few houses in the area (prescription medicines in car) so I guess they were targeting what they considered the vulnerable and elderly.

Horrible incident, but one that would not have happened if they hadn't broke into his home.

This may sound knee-jerk and very Daily Mail - but I couldn't care less. You go burgling (repeatedly, an elderly man) in a country where people are routinely armed and have the right to defend their homes then you're a bloody idiot and this (maybe not the coup de grace bit) is quite a likely outcome.

No question he went too far, but they brought their deaths upon themselves.

They went looking for trouble, they found a bit more than they expected. No sympathy.

I anticipate a reduction in burglaries in that area.

I think it is fair for someone to defend their property with a warning shot, or to shoot the person if they feel in danger of their life - the intruder is wielding a gun/knife, etc.

He didn't though, he executed them.

No sympathy at all?

Death for stealing some property is the appropriate response?

If it was your son/daughter you would be happy with that outcome?

Just asking....

Hopefully he gets sent down for the rest of his life. Sick fker. He wasn't defending himself, he was trying to punish them. As for leaving the corpses for a day before bothering to notify anyone, unbelievable.

He went too far, but equally, I have zero sympathy for the dead kids.

ETA: By all means, shoot 'em then call the cops / ambulance but the "finishing shot" under the chin and time taken to call it in is obviously not on.

And again the question must be ask:

If these were your kids you would see it as fair that they were shot?

Yes they shouldn't break in to this mans house, of course they shouldn't, but being shot for it? Whats next, castration if caught scrumping?

Shades of Saudi Arabia there mate!

Summary execution fair justice for breaking and entering?

I'd hope he has the book thrown at him, even with American fked up justice he can't claim he needed to give "a good clean kill" to someone incapacitated and likely to be dead very soon without medical attention.

When I read things like this, I can't help feeling the US is a country falling apart at the seams.

Read what I wrote, I said he went too far.

I have no problems whatsoever with someone shooting a burglar.

Grumfutock - I don't have kids.

Shooting someone dead because they committed a far lesser crime isn't civilised.

Christ, that's just evil. A shot in the air would have been enough to scare them off and make sure they never returned, lying in wait to shoot them then record the coup de grace is, well, evil.

Breaking and entering into someone's home, and creating the resultant fear, distress and anxiety isn't civilised either.

If one chooses to live by the sword, one must accept the risk of dying by it too.
