You know, I'll get shot, but last time ordering/booking on-line with kwik fit was only £2 or £3 a corner more expensive than the cheapest I could find, and as it was close and I know my local one isn't as bad as the stories, well I'm afraid I did.

MyTyres occasionally offer amazing reductions, always worth checking. I've found them to be quick too.

I get them to deliver to my local tyre fitter, who isn't one of their official fitters, so don't let the lack of a nearby registered garage put you off.

Black Circles.
Jusr recently discovered that Black Circles have changed their business model from being a direct supplier of tyres to being a middle man - linking the bulk suppliers to local fitters and leasing the fitting equipment to the garages signed up to their 'scheme'.

Might explain their less competitive prices these days as they are applying a small markup on each tyre they source rather than buying stock themselves and supplying direct.

I personally have switched between MyTyres, Camskill, AllNewTyres and EARS depending on who is supplying the particular tyre cheapest at the time. Also - check out ebay prices, but beware as all the abovementioned sellers often supply the same tyre on their own sites cheaper but occasionally offer discounts on ebay.

Prices fluctuate on a daily basis for some tyres so shop around.

Try a local independent place.

In Bristol I've found Venture tyres and Cabot tyres are both cheaper than online suppliers. smile

Best place for tyres? Your local tyre guys.

Buying mail order means there are 4 parties involved - you, the supplier, the manufacturer and the fitters. Fine if all goes well and maybe you'll save a few quid, but if damaged, not as described or old stock or date mismatched tyres are dumped on your doorstep nobody wants to know and the "industry standard" returns procedure is unbelievably obstructive. Any returns are going to be at your expense for removal and carriage and have to be accompanied by a signed form allowing the manufacturers to test to destruction if they feel like it. If after all that grief they claim there was nothing wrong with your tyres they've just ripped to bits on the test jig you're fked.

And while you're waiting for the verdict how do you drive a car without any tyres? Fork out more cash to have your old ones dug out of the skip and refitted? Buy another set?

Been there and done mail order and last time got my arse bitten. Sure, get an internet price and see if your local tyre guys will match it. Even if they don't quite get there buy from them anyway. No ducking any responsibility then - they source supply and fit and have 100% responsibility.

Never been disappointed yet. Great prices and service.
Yeah, these guys are pretty much the go-to for the area. It's telling that because they're not 'in town', nobody will price-match them; prices on a par with all the best mail-order sites, but in stock (and while they don't necessarily have everything they do have a wide selection) and just drive up and get them done. The one drawback is if you already have the tyres and just want fitting then they aren't the cheapest.

Agree. yes

I think it's always best to give your local tyre supplier the chance then if you have any problem you can easily pop back and sort things.

Try calling an online shop and ask them to mend a puncture.

Support your local tyre shop because if you don't when you need him he may not be in business.

Being an independent myself I know we can beat almost all UK fitted prices.

Like when you buy anything, shop about. Different places are cheaper for different sizes and brands I've found. I always check Camskill, Pneus and eBay as well as ring around a few local fitters as you can never guarantee what will be cheaper.

I use Blackcircles - buy via their website with fitting done locally by a couple of fitters who take the greatest care of my cars and wheels.
