That's just reminded me, my father in law borrowed my DVD about 3 years ago...

Still one of my favourite ring vids.

Blimey that's fast. Track day soft tyres plus tuned to about 600hp? Plus the driver is smooth and skilled.

That's insane, incredibly fast, he makes it seem effortless belting along at 180mph!

That was a joy to watch. The power of that Skyline was incredible, and the driver clearly knew the place inside out - totally smooth, no drama at any point. From bridge to gantry and clearly not pushing it was 8:03..

From what I've learned on PH, the Nordschleife is as smooth as any track in the world and not at all bumpy.
Surely you jest?
If not, then perhaps don't take everything on ph as fact!

I love this video, dirk is superb, I fell in love with the ring as a kid watching VHS videos of dirk developing the skylines and every lap I have done in real life gives me a real strong déjà vs feeling that casts me back to those videos as soon as it gets going.

That gtr is laugh out loud fast though...

Surely that's gotta be more like 800+ bhp? Does anyone know a rough figure?

2.6 and 2530s - close to 600.

Bloody hell. I can't imagine driving one at 1000bhp if that's how quick 600bhp accelerates!

Liked it when he said, "Now we can have a little rest.. up [name of section], let the engine do the work." 140 becomes 160 in a few seconds...

When I first watched this I had a suspicion that the speedo was wildly inaccurate, so I compared it to this video of Dirk driving my GT3 with a GPS speedo overlay.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNa_C41zOTU

T13 was out of action as they were building the GP seating so I started the 2 videos at the apex of the left-hander at the start of Hatzenbach. Even though there's traffic on both videos (and rain), the Skyline never pulls out the sort of lead you would expect if the speedo was accurate. By the time the cars are through PF2 there is still almost nothing in it but the GT3 is ahead.

Good vid. Nice sound, relaxed driving style and fairly swift.

He's not quite an elite driver. He was always reputed to be a second or two behind Senna and others back in the day.

fk me, must be hard to qualify as 'elite' then! Within a second of Senna, I'd say he is easily one of the best drivers around...

Monster car, superbly relaxed, fast and unhurried drive from a consummate professional.

Nice vid - I'm smelling a bit of an overread (above 100 at least) on that speedo tho - at one point it's flying past 180mph and - erm - that seems a bit more than I'd have expected, even of a tuned example??

Great vid; can spend faaaarr too much time watching fast laps of the 'ring. smile

However, my favourite still has to be the footage of Stefan Roser in the RUF 'Yellowbird'.

There's a growing assumption that professional drivers have to be ego driven, arrogant mono-maniacs to be any good. It's refreshing to see one who is brilliant behind the wheel as well as being unassuming, pleasant and communicative. He wasn't even wearing sunglasses.
Yes well I'm trying as hard as I can to be the former, I even bought Kimi-style giant gold oakleys...
I've met Dirk a number of times such a nice guy too, a genuine enthusiast and someone who really loves what he does. Will definitely blag a passenger ride one day!

It's weird you should post this though, I watched this just a few days ago... The speed in some places is mad, and he's 10-15mph in almost every bend than I am, not to mention 130mph through courage corner yikes

Wow! What an amazing machine. Driver is a bit handy too. That's put a Skyline back on the possibles list.

Impressive composure, but take all those speeds with a pinch of salt. The R34 does not do 120 mph in 3rd, might clip 100 on the limiter. I can only assume that the variance gets further from reality the higher its reading too.
