Chaps, I need some new rears and could use some suggestions as to brand and prices please. Currently fitted with Yoko Advan Sport 235/35/ZR19.

I've fitted Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's all round on mine. Had them on my RS6 and then on my E61 M5. One of the best tyres in the wet and very good in the dry (i'm hitting a genuine 4.2s to 60 in my P31 C63 so the tyres have plenty of grip). Much cheaper than the main brands too. The only downside is that they need a couple of hundred miles of abuse to scrub in, but they do last much longer than the other brands so you can allow for a few good runs just for the hell of it. Attractive tread pattern too!

Just bought two 235/35ZR19 MO XL Conti Sport Contact 5P from F1 autocentres - £171.50 each inc VAT and fitting. I like the Conti's, good in both wet and dry IMHO smile

Conti Sport Contact 5Ps for me too. There's a lot of development work that goes into matching tyre to suspension geo.

Erm, whatever floats your boat I suppose...it is only a tyre after all!

Thanks all. yes, I like Conti 5s too. As I only need the rears I wanted to avoid mixing the types though.

Yes the CSC are great tyres but in my experience the 3's are far more durable than the 5's. Check Camskill to see if they have any left.

After looking into this it seems that MB fitted the Yoko Advan Sport out of the factory on my C63 so I'm stiking with them. Out of interest, the Euro spec numbers for these were almost identical to the Conti Sport 5s but slightly better in the wet.

I've had Conti 5's (18") as OE with a 1x replacement set. Now on Pirelli's which I don't think are quite as good. Conti's have better feel and are slightly better in the wet.

Got a weekend in Wales this weeknd so thought I would throw on a set of new tyres. Just ordered a set of V reds and the cost was a very reasonable £460 all in from Camskill.
Let's hope they are as good as everyone says.

Just remember to give them a bit of a thrashing to take the surface wax off. Once scrubbed in they are ace.

I was wrong - not Yokos from factory, must have been Contis - so reckon I'm on my third set in 15,000 miles! Got Yokos, apparently there a few weeks waiting for delivery on Contis at the moment.

How about Michelin Pilot Super Sport? I'm considering going to 265/30/19 at the rear when mine need replacing (soon!).

Merc main dealer told me there was weeks waiting for Contis (because they didn't want to do the job, but that's another story!) but I ordered through F1 Autocentre on the Thursday and they were delivered on the Monday, no worries.

The SLK55 is needing new rubber soon and had stumbled on great reviews on these tyres. And the price is unbelievably reasonable too.
Its good to know, if they are adequate for the C63 they will definitely be fine for the SLK55.

Thanks

You say that, but 2 weeks ago I couldn't get any 255/30 19 Conti SP5's. No dealer had any and F1 auto centre told me none until June or July.

There is useful and comprehensive information here: http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/germany/mpc/mp...

Mercedes-AMG seem to recommend only Continental ContiSportContact 3 MO or Yokohama Advan Sport MO, at least in 19" sizes.

Fair enough - F1 did tell me that Continental had changed their ordering system and that orders were unreliable so it sounds like you were impacted by that. I must just have been lucky or they have overcome the problem now smile
