E60 520d manual with 108k miles needs timing chain replacing, black leather interior, rear tints, excellent condition, Id like to ask for advice on roughly how much I could expect to get if sold in current condition. Still drives, full tax & M.O.T etc.

Dealer quoted £2250 today for work, local BMW specialist £1800. Trying to figure out if I should pay for repair (not that I can afford it at the mo) or cut my loses and sell, disapointed either way.

Thanks all!

Is it the N47 engine and what is the date of manufacture? Depending on your answer you may need to stop driving it immediately to avoid wrecking the engine.

Search autotrader or PH classified for cars of the same year (which you haven't mentioned), mileage and condition and knock £2500 off the price they are going for.

I say £2500 as you have got to make it worth the buyer's time and effort to get the repairs done v just buying another car without a serious engine problem.
