Talk to Mike Saunders (PH Name: itsallyellow). He's put straight through pipes on his road car and it's feckin' loud. Personally I went from the sports tails that came with the car and took it back to the original back box for 2 reasons.

1) To get under 105dB for a trackday at Spa.

2) It's all good fun for a 30 minute rip around the country lanes, or a morning buzzing the limiter on a tunnel run, but when cruising at 3500 - 4000 rpm on a motorway for an hour or so it's just unpleasant.

Fine if it only goes by trailer.
Not fine if used on a public road.

I had them fitted for a short while and it was a bit louder! wink but as I sold the car I've still got them cluttering up my garage, if anyone is interested? smile

Hi mate. Absolutely loving the car. It passed its MOT last week and has just been treated to a new set of tires and is booked for a 4wheel Geo this weekend so hopefully that will make it slightly less terrifying to drive?!

Hope your well and not missing it too much? Did you replace it with anything in the end or did you do your kitchen?

Hi James,

Glad you are liking it smile

I lasted a few months saying I wasn't getting a replacement but In the end I changed my mind and I am collecting a Caterham 7 on the 1st biggrin

If you fancy those pipes I'll do you a deal? smile

Sounds like a bit of me! Would it fit a 4.5 or would that be a different diameter?

I've been on the same journey as you Olly, and I couldn't agree more.

Anyone want some well used Sports Tails?

Mine was measured at 123dB and it does get a bit wearing on a longer journey. But the sound on shorter trips is awesome!

I have sports tails and put 2 extra silencers (1 each side) in my system. Took a noticeable edge off the volume. A pleasure to cruise on motorways now, but still makes all the right noises with the right toe stuck in.. Bit bassier on idle as well.

Im up around the 120's, yes its very noisy and conversations are a bit pointless. I dont think Id every tire of that sound though even if it might damage hearing over the long term biggrin

I put mine in the skip when my quiet back box arrived from ACT, that makes a lovely noise.

I don't know to be honest. Anyone got any ideas if tail pipes from a 4.2 would fit a 4.5?
