Greetings Folks

Now I no longer need to have a Windows system to keep me upto speed with the trials & tribulations of my support clients (I don't do support anymore smile ), I'm looking at making the change to Mac.

Why? I like the 'just works' feel, the quality and 'just because'...

But I'm mulling over which way to go. MBP Retina or 27" iMac. I already have iPhone & iPad.

My biz is now centred around Social Media, SEO and similar webby things. I'm not a web designer as such although I do somethimes have to tinker with existing sites.

I need the machine to run all the business stuff like accounts (Cloud based), Spreadsheets, documents etc. Most of the work I do is browser based. Do a bit of photography & video bits but not a huge amount so high power is of a 'nice to have' rather than absolutely essential factor.

I do need to give presentations but could do that (I think) by downloading from an iMac onto the iPad & using an adaptor to drive a projector?

It would be nice to be able to take the MBP to other working locations (Jelly meetups for example) but that's not really an essential if the iMac would be so much better on other fronts.

Your opinions on/or your experiences of the two please folks?

MacBook Pro
27" LCD Screen
Apple Wireless Keyboard + Mouse

Best of both worlds

Probably best to get one of each.

If funds don't allow though, then as above, get a high spec laptop, (max out the ram, you can't add it later) a nice quality screen and mouse / keyboard of your choice for a more relaxing home setup.

The OH is in a similar situation and thinking of a MBP set up like this to replace an ageing iMac. Would she be missing out on anything vs. a similarly priced new iMac?

Nope nothing.

Just plug the power into the MacBook and display port thing in and it goes into a docking station mode.

The iMac would get my vote as you already have an iPad.

We leave our iMac running all the time as a media server. iTunes with HomeSharing switched on is a great setup.
