A nice reward after such a turnaround.

Henderwho to vice captain...

Fully deserved appointment IMHO.

Yup, he's fast becoming a indispensable member of the squad, we really missed his energy last few games of the season when he was banned frown

Looking forward to seeing him grow more, he's still very young & will take over the Gerrard role of being the teams midfield engineer once he retires.

Agree, definitely deserved. And a stark reminder to all of us who thought little of him when he first signed!

His range of passing is coming on a treat, would like to see him take on a player or two.

If anyone's the harbinger of room on here it's me ! biggrin it's too early for anything just yet, laser and Moreno look quality the new right back may lose out to Flanagan and lala will soon be sorted (worries me that he looks like Joe Allen with a beard) - thing is we need to hold on whilst we stabilise, Tuesday will be fine but boro worries me that Bren will think its a walk in the park
I, for whatever reason, expected Laser to be this fast winger that would run at players. I know it was his first game but I just didn't see him even try this. I have no real idea of what type of player he is. Lallana I've seen play, I know he can do better.

Moreno looks excellent going forward. Not sure he'll help with stopping us conceding though. As for the right back, no one sends out a really good player, or anyone anywhere near the finished article on a 2 year loan with an option to buy for 5 million. I think he's just another moneyball gamble.

His strength is his energy. Sorry Jammy, and I am a fan of his and hold my hands up for putting him in the same camp as Downing etc, think he's pretty average elsewhere. Passing, creating, beating a man, scoring goals etc. Not to say he won't get better but he needs to have much more to his game. Pleased he's been made VC.

I reckon Lovren has got to be contender for the captaincy once Gerrard leaves. Early days but he looks quality both on the pitch AND in press conferences.

Henderson certainly has proved me wrong. I thought it was terrible buy and after his first season wanted him gone. Even BR told him he could leave. That made him focus, believe and want to play for Liverpool. Role model.

Nice to see your support and also admittance you were wrong but RT, you dont need to always chip in with a negative response - you could just offer your congrats and leave it there. For some reason you always seem to have come in with some form of 'constructive' criticism - bit more positivity wouldnt be a bad thing.

I bet your missus come down from getting ready for a night out say 'how do I look?' and you respond with 'not bad, quite nice dress but you could do with a different shade of lipstick, perhaps tuck in at the hips a bit and lose a bit of weight off the back'...

I thought the same about Lovren when we played BvB. He was quiet against Southampton but he was booed all game on every touch by their fans so that's understandable. Be interesting to hear what he was like when we played against Villa.

Hoping the atmosphere is brilliant tonight. Was poor against Southampton and I heard it was poor against Villa on Saturday too.

More expensive the tickets get the worse the atmosphere will get

Can't be the problem really though can it?
People just weren't singing against Southampton. Was the first game too. Read that Villa fans were singing 'is this a library' too. Same as the Southampton fans were singing.
Everyone seems to look to the Kop to sing when everybody should be.
Can only see the atmosphere being brilliant tonight, everybody talking about it in work, getting worked up for it.

My thoughts exactly. Keep up this pricing policy and we could end up with Old Trafford Mk2.

Completely agree. Anfield was dead during the last game. It is almost like there is an expectation that the football will excite the crowd to life. Sometimes, it needs to be the other way around.

Will definitely be completely different tonight.

I'd disagree on his passing Raja, I think Hendersons passing is quite good, even in his first season he'd show glimpses of a brilliant first time pass to unlock somebody but I don't think he utilises it enough - his energy means he is everywhere so he's not always using his ability to unlock something or use his vision to create an opportunity as he's keeping the ball moving deeper. He is no Gerrard though!

Would like him to score more, he's had some exquisite finishes but needs to hit double figures.

Over the last two seasons Henderson has to be the most improved player in the league.

For me he would be our next captain, love the guy now, so important to our team. Like I said there is better players but its not always the best players that fit into a system or way of play - the way Rodgers likes to play he is perfect.

I agree with this. I think his passing is much improved in the last season or two with his passing. That through ball for Sterling's goal t'other week was just sublime. Plus he's been spraying balls around slightly Gerrard-esque too.

Obviously he's never going to have the natural talent that Gerrard has, but his work ethic is making up for a lot of that. I agree with RT though in that he could do with being a bit more creative and taking his man on to take players out the game (though every LFC player was guilty of that against Villa).

I doubted he'd make the step up a couple of years ago but he's proved me wrong; he's a very, very good player indeed.

The one last question mark in my mind would be his temperament. Don't forget that his rash red card towards the end of last season was a stupid one to give away. No one will ever know the effect it had on your title chances but suffice to say, it certainly didn't help them.

Other than that though, his progress with both Liverpool and England has been pretty damn impressive. I'd like to see England build their midfield around him for the next few years.

That red card seemed very out of character to me. Maybe it was the pressure of the title race getting to him or something, but for me that wasn't his usual self.
