Of the 3 strikers we bought in the summer I think the best one is the lad we sent back on loan. Still no idea why anyone would play Balotelli as a sole striker.

Not sure how Lazer is getting pitch time ahead of Coutinho or even Suso either.

I'm not sure what's gone wrong though, it's not just about the players, we're clearly not playing like we did last season. Rather it's more like the crap that we witnessed week in week out in BRs first season.

There's nothing about him to suggest he is a 20 million pound player. How he got a start today I'll never know.
He will come good

I thought we played miles better.....until the last 4 minutes where we seemed to ask them to score.

There were spells where the new players looked good including Lazer.

I think on the whole we deserved the three points, however a wonder strike cost us. The team seems to be settling in slowly and starting to understand each other more. Still lots to do, but I believe that we have started to turn the corner today.

Coping with Basel and West Brom will determine if a corner has been turned or if we continue living the nightmare of a spurs fan.

Neither did Henderson.

As I've suggested to you before, have some patience.

The reason is the room Suarez made through the other teams fear of him. If ever one man made a team it wa him. Gerard is way over the hill. OK a goal from a free kick otherwise totally rubbish

When he played then yes, tgat was the case but at the moment we haven't got the same fast attacking thatdwe showed when he wasn't. I wonder if training has much to do with this because Suarez was banned so still training and I bet the attacking side of training had him and his style involved hence why we have lost that edge. Just a thought.

Last season, with or without Suarez, we were explosive in the first 20 mins and were often out of sight by half time. This season, thus far, we've not seen that cohesive energy and pressure high up the pitch. We started the season well, without Suarez. Of course, we were that bit better with him, but we were plenty good enough without. Sturridge is missing, that's as big a factor in to me. I think last season we always had Sturridge Or Suarez, and sometimes both. Not having either would hurt any team and isn't something we can paper over at present.

Yesterday we played well. More than well enough to win the game. Balotelli missed a sitter and Jagielka scored a once in a lifetime worldy. What can you do. It's early days, it will take a long time to return to the heights of last year as the team has to evolve again. We won't get a chance like last year again for a while, we all knew that.

Top 4 remains the goal. And it was always going to be tough. The top two are long gone. The rest is up for grabs.

I think we have to judge how we are doing realistically by Christmas, when the new players have time to bed in.
Was impressed by Mario yesterday, although he missed some chances, he still got in lots of positions to be in the position to score and goals will come.

Sterling will be our player of the season, without a doubt

3 players out of the back 4 are new.
Sturridge has played against Spurs. We smashed them. Against City. Defensive errors. Against Southampton. We won but they gave us a game.

So we have beat Spurs and Southampton and got beat by City. Most teams in the top 6 would take that.
Sturridge has been injured since them games.

Lets see how we are in a few games when Sturridge is back fit and the back 4 have had a few games together. It's clear now that Skrtel and Lovren is a future CB pairing.

Yesterday something I noticed. Henderson dropping back to where Gerrard usually goes and Gerrard moving up. Give the other teams something to think about in future games.

No one said he won't come good. Rather why is he starting such a game?

Henderson is a poor comparison. Why not compare him with Downing? Same money and same position.

Lazer should only be starting league cup games and getting sub appearances right now IMO. Nowhere near the level he needs to be and should only be a bit part player so that his acclimatisation doesn't harm our league position.

I mentioned Henderson because you slated him endlessly and he's now a mainstay of the team.

He was also the same money.

If you want a player in a similar position, how about Lamela? He disappeared without trace last season but seems to be coming good now.

Downing was never worth what we paid for him. Every Liverpool fan on earth agrees on that.

Laser has been a fan favourite at every club he's played at, there's a reason for that, so let him find his feet and hopefully he will come good.

Coutinho looked much more like his old self yesterday when he came! Was a breath of fresh air seeing him looking for ball , unlike Markovic ! Hope he comes good, to me he looks like he is playing with zero confidence !
Thought Lallana was very good for 60 min yesterday, Moreno was my mom and Lovren and Manquillo did very well !

Henderson didn't seem to leave Gerard's side either made us look more solid but did restrict the attacking a bit! Can't have everything though

Personally I think Balo is a huge mistake.

I don't think he has the desire needed,he seems to lose all interest in the game at times especially when things aren't going his way.

I really do hope I am proved wrong but at the moment he is my big concern.

You just wait to see what he's like when he gets dropped or subbed early.
