Just to remind everyone in the East Midlands that the Griffins Head Pub Classic and Sports Car meet in Papplewick, Nottingham restarts next Wednesday (7th May).

This has in the past been a very popular meet so it's always best to get there early evening if possible because it does tend to get rather busy with over 120 cars attending, and possibly more this year if they don't put up a gigantic tent in the field!!!

To anyone who hasn't attended before, the meet is the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the spring/summer months and is attended by a wide selection of classic and sports cars, from Minis, Morris Minor, Allegro, Jaguar, through to supercars from Ferrari, Maserati and even the occasional Lamborghini (had an Aventador show up last year!) to name but a few, plus sporty stuff from TVR, Porsche, BMW, DeLorean, Alfa, Mercedes, Ford, and even one or two bubble cars.

Contact details and address: The Griffins Head | Moor Road, Papplewick, Nottingham NG15 8EN | Tel: 01159 633672

Have enclosed a few thumbnail pics I took from the last meeting in September 2013.

Haha, I too will be attending just so long as it doesn't rain!

From memory it rarely rains on the Griffins Head Classic Car night, yet throws it down the following Wednesday for the Little John Classic car and bike meeting at the Little John pub in Ravenshead which is a shame because it's attended by a great shed load of car enthusiasts.

I'll be going to this tonight. It'll probably pee down now so I apologise to everyone in advance.

Never heard of the Little John meet. Is it posted up here?

Apologies accepted in advance!!! I won't bother washing the car tonight, don't want to tempt fate and end up with a thunder-storm! Hope to drive over to the Griffins Head early evening unless it really is raining cats and dogs.

As regards the Little John classic car and bike event, it's a smaller venue, but is still very interesting for anyone interested in classic and sports cars and bikes. Is approx 4 miles north of Papplewick just off the A60 on Main Road in Ravenshead.

For info, the Griffins Head meet in Papplewick is the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, whilst the Little John meet in Ravenshead is the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month.

The Little John meet sounds interesting, I've given up with the Griffins Head as it just became too much of a chav/VW meet last year, if reports come back saying otherwise I might venture down though. driving

Was a pretty good meet last night at the Griffins Head, and considering how dire the weather looked and felt, it was quite well attended by a wide variety of cars. The monster sized marque has gone due to locals complaining, so more spaces for cars in the summer.

I took a few pics of the cars that did attend last night to give you some idea of what turned up.

Needless to say, it did get rather chilly later on and felt like it was going to throw it down, so most folks were leaving by 8pm. In the warmer and drier summer months I have no doubts that it will be packed solid with cars, vans, bikes and enthusiasts.

If we're not suffering from snow blizzards or torrential rain next week then have a drive out to the Little John Pub in Ravenshead next Wednesday from 6pm onwards, there won't be anywhere near as many cars turning up as at the Griffins Head, but it's a decent bunch of car and bike enthusiasts that attend, and certainly in the summer months there is a reasonable turnout of car nuts.

I've just heard on the grapevine that the landlord at the Griffin's Head is new and he's told various people that he is not interested in having the classic car meet there anymore.

Has anyone else heard this?

I think you may be mistaken, as far as I am aware the landlord hasn't changed at the Griffin's Head, though has changed at the Little John pub in Ravenshead.

Next classic car and sports car meeting at the Griffin's Head is next Wednesday (21st May). If the weather is good the turnout ought to be outstanding.

As for the turnout of classic and sporting cars tonight at the Little John Pub in Ravenshead, it was fantastic, with a varied selection of classic and sports cars, from the very compact Fiat 126 to a monster truck, nearly everything was here.

To anyone who hasn't attended these classic and sports car meetings before, they are free to attend, with no silly forms to fill out. Turn up, park up, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Griffin's Head classic car meet is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.

The Little John Classic car and bike meet is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month.
