Just Googled 'tvr, s series, oil' = About 1,550,000 results. To narrow it down, search for what?

Penrite for me Joe an I think it is cheaper than this. Recommended to me by a guy that rebuilds MG's for a living.

Just put the Valvoline VR1 20/50 in mine and its quieter, with better oil pressure. I understand its a high ZDP oil so provides better protection to sliding metal surfaces such as the tappets.
Had GTX 15/50 in previously and the tappets needed adjusting after only 3000 miles.
Rob.

Sorry Joe,
I should've been more specific, but.it was late & I was under the influence of Ovomaltine sleep
It's only been asked 'a hundred times before' .

You should get a good consensus from 1.55 million results.

By the way, Eurocarparts often sell it a lot cheaper than that on special offer.

Joe

This is the stuff the guy recommended to me. Classic oils in Aylesbury seem to be the best price.

I used this recently in the V8S after previously using 20W50 mineral and then Mobil 1 Fully Synth 15W50. Pressure hot and cold is same. I change to this after speaking to 2 TVR specialists who said they use 10W40 semi synth every time in this engine so thought I'd give it a go.

I don't know if you can get this in the UK but if you can try using Mobil 1 V Twin 20/50 fully synthetic motorcycle oil. It has the highest ZDDP rating of all the road use oils. In fact it's just an older car blend of oil relabeled for motorcycle use as it damages the cat in modern cars. I've used it in my 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 for the last 5 years and the engine does very well with it, much better than the VR-1 that I was using. Significantly less top end noise and It cleared up the blow by on hard acceleration. It's also very popular with the air cooled 911 chaps.

Incase you are wondering....I'm lurking around looking for info on the 2.8 cologne engine. Just sold the Esprit and thinking of buying a 280i.

My garage who are TVR specialists - use 10/60 Castrol Sport fully synthetic. I'm not qualified and don't really want to enter the debate about its lubrication merits - the grade should do that. Just something they insist on for it.
