No, we don't take the Jolly Rodger Times in our household.
So you have a copy of indeterminate origin (and build cycle) which has been tinkered with by people outside of the development project and who possess questionable ethics ? You counter a simple question with a bunch of self justification and indignation.
I'm not sure that any outrage is justified unless you've handed over your hard-earned for an official version & applied the official updates.
Fair enough. So you have a copy of indeterminate origin (and build cycle) which has been tinkered with by people outside of the development project and who possess questionable ethics ? You counter a simple question with a bunch of self justification and indignation.

The pirated release is V1.0, the same piece of software released to paying customers on day one. The only changes to the game are those to allow it to run unlicensed. I'm not sure exactly how that might affect core gameplay bugs. Not one bit, I suspect... Yes, I have applied all of the official patches to my copy, problems persist.
I'm not trying to justify having not paid for the game yet, as stated in my original post I shall most likely pay for it, when it is fixed, as I'd like to play co-op.
Perhaps you missed the point of my original post, which was largely in the defence of the people who payed for the game and couldn't play it, or were playing a broken game and quite rightly displeased. Not myself being 'outraged' because my pirate copy doesn't meet expectations. I shall fruitlessly, no doubt, again suggest you look at the official forums if you think this is just a problem with my Chinese knock off version of the game...

It's a shame to see people here enjoying ripped off copies of the game. Probably the first to complain if they bought some Brembo brakes on EBay and got a cheap Chinese copy instead...
In fairness, in the case of the poster you're referring to, he at least is doing "try before you buy" rather than outright piracy. Baryonyx said:

Regardless of where I acquired my copy, it is the same release version that was shipped to paying customers on day one. To say I have been enjoying it is stubbornly overlooking the point I have reiterated that myself, and a great many paying customers, clearly haven't been enjoying the game, as much as we would like to. I can't even play it now, as it is still broken at that one cutscene, it is not fixed. Some couldn't even launch the game when it was released. I would dearly like to support the developers for the work they have put in to produce what is largely a fantastic title, but to use your reference, I shall not knowingly pay Brembo prices for Chinese brakes. The point I have been trying to make all along is that it is somewhat galling for a publisher to release a game to customers paying top money for a AAA title, released in a broken state. No official apology has been issued to those customers who couldn't play the game, or were having a lot of trouble with it. It's damaging to the industry as a whole. The number of people who resort to torrents to try a game before buying it is rising, not all of them will pay for it if they like it. The whole thing stinks, frankly.

You've got no right to complain, you've not even paid for it. Maybe if they weren't being ripped off by knobs pirating the game and playing it for free, they'd have some flex to fix the bugs before it's released...Baryonyx said:

Indeed I don't, I shall refer you to my previous posts where my arguments are in defence of the paying customers who received the same piece of software as I downloaded through a torrent. Disregarding the immature name calling, do you think they will launch a broken game to annoy those that try a torrent version before buying it? To the great detriment of their paying customer base? I really can't understand your argument, it is fundamentally flawed.anonymous said:

Believe what you like, my conscience won't allow me to be a criminal. Developers rarely release demos anymore, torrents replace that. Devs know this.As I have previously stated, I shall be buying this game, when fixed. You can choose to disbelieve me if you like, no skin off my back.
Of course it isn't affecting everyone, such is the way of playing on a platform with millions of variable configurations. It's sad that the game was clearly not tested thoroughly enough to iron these faults out. Quite considerable, looking at the fora.
I agree, you can read in GG about DMF failure, and DPF horror, it won't apply to all people though. It is largely amplified by virtue of 'internet'. Not always true.
Yep, I did not buy the game upon release, as stated, glad. Clearly you have not bothered actually reading my posts defending the paying customers.
It's easy to defend the customers when they are footing the bill for the development of the game (and future games) while skimming the product off for free like a cheapskate. You seem to believe yourself to be some sort of hero of the people, stealing games and badmouthing developers because the product you stole from them doesn't meet your standards. How noble of you to feel indignant that paying customers experienced glitches, and what a shame that your pirated, broken-ass game wasn't an enjoyable gaming experience. I don't believe for a second you'd pay for the game even if it had worked for you, in much the same way people who "quality check" music with torrents don't then go to iTunes and put a tenner in the record label's pocket.

Enjoying the tasks on farcry, openness guns and trying to kill rhino's which is hard even with a grenade launcher. took 4 hits to kill one last night but still good fun

Have you bothered to read any of my posts, or were you merely looking for an opportunity to rant about piracy in general?Edited by Mastodon2 on Saturday 22 November 23:54
