Don't watch your cash. It soon mounts up and you end up unable to sell because your wallet is full. I now always have 4m to 5m.
Well that's it, I've now bought everything I need to buy, other than ammo refills ongoing (and fully upgraded the house whenever I was approaching my limit) and I still haven't set foot into North Kyrat. So I'm golden from now on. But before, I was finding if I went nuts with the sniper ammo, explosive arrows and grenade launcher, I was turning in 100k loot per session, but having to spend just 70k to replace the ammo, so getting cash for signature weapons was taking too long and I wasn't having fun just going out looting chests. So now my wallet is maxxed out (until I pick up the last hunting quest - must be out in the unexplored North), I don't have anythying to save up for, so I can just start exploding everything that moves, and its great fun.
I still haven't found many good opportunities for disabling the brakes on cars and rolling them into situations laden with explosives. Might try booby trapping an elephant at the next outpost I unlock....

just finished the final shangri la boss. Took ages, then on my worst attempt where it took ages to down it once it all came together and got the stupid bird. Very frustrating!
Well in that case I'm *definitely* not going to bother. I can't stand boss battles. I'm happy to leave the Arena and Shangri-La.
I guess I'm done now.
kind of enjoyed the shangr-la stuff just found the lass boss frustrating. I think over all its a good game with a good story. Far cry 3 was better though.
edit to add: just done loads of side quests, collecting things etc. Largely a waste of time and you get nothing for them. So other than the main story which I enjoyed the rest is fairly pointless.

I reset the Outposts this evening and have been using a new strategy to retake them - aerial bombardment using a Buzzer, the sidearm grenade launcher, and Molotovs. Death from above, and they never know what hit them.
Also I discovered an amusing way of hunting that I'm sure Hurk would approve of. You lay landmines and then throw bait onto them from a distance. The animal rushes in to the bait and - BOOM - they sail away in a graceful arc when they trigger the mine.
(Obviously this is no good if you are collecting their skins)
Edit: On one Outpost, I got spotted and they tried to engage me with mortar fire. Only I was out of range and they ended up killing half their own forces with Friendly Fire.

Finished the game last week. Haven't reset the outposts yet, but I have been playing them on Outpost Master using ever more ridiculous weapon combinations. This is what the Harpoon is for! All pistols makes it quite difficult, all grenade and rocket launchers is fun, so is all shotguns. Also I discovered an amusing way of hunting that I'm sure Hurk would approve of. Finished the main story last weekend. Bit of an anti-climax to say the least. There were certain people that I wanted to kill but was never presented with the opportunity.
Also the bugs were really irritating; no Hurk missions, no Pagan's Wrath convoys and only one Kyrat fashion week mission, so I didn't get to craft all the goodies. It even crashed a few times.
The gameplay was still great fun though.
I've got most of the outposts, two forts, a hippy mission and 2 x Shangri-La missions to complete, so I might just restart and side with the other Golden Path character.
This was on PS3, so that might explain, but definitely doesn't excuse, some of the bugs.

Anyone else still playing?
I'm a bit of a plodder so have been playing for a few months now. I'm still on the first part of the map
Is it worth doing forts in co-op mode? I've managed to do the first couple quite easily.
I don't know how much I have played it as Uplay doesn't seem to logit like Steam does, but I've played all the way through, collected every collectable you can collect, liberated all outposts twice (second time was from the air just for LOLz), and now occasionally dip in just to walk around and shoot with my stupidly overpowered MG42 whatever comes near me. I think I'm done. I'm a bit of a plodder so have been playing for a few months now. I'm still on the first part of the map

Never did finish all the Shangi-La missions though - they're just cack.

I put another couple of hours in last night and I'm just about to do the Death from Above mission, so hopefully I'll have the North unlocked soon.
The Shangri-La stuff is awful. Yogi and Reggie are awful.
I'm enjoying the game mostly but it is getting a bit repetitive.
Shangri-La is not great. Yogi and Reggie would have been told to FO at the end of a large gun after their first stunt. That's if you didn't decide to kill them with explosives. The Shangri-La stuff is awful. Yogi and Reggie are awful.
