Estimate seems high even in these rarified times though…...

Good profit margins in teeth whitening.

Will this attract the crowd from the RMA auction at Monaco & their thick wallets? To sell as one lot will prove challenging, but ready to be surprised.

I wouldn't mind Mountbatten's Mini Traveller, it's the same colour as mine was and my Dad served on his ship in WW2.

BTW - a dentist friend of mine mentioned he'd once been offered a job at £1000 - a day!! (That was 30 years ago...)

My brother-in-law's collection, it really is awesome. He'll miss them when they're gone.

Mike Hailwoods 1961 E Type..... Anyone know any more about this Jag ??

I wasn't aware that "Mike The Bike" owned an E, certainly not from new, so guessing if he did own one he bought it when it was a few years old.
From my ageing memory I'm pretty sure John Surtees bought one new ( a cream FHCoupe ) in late 1961, imeadiately complaining about the budget Shockabsorbers.

Re this dentist guys £ value of his collection, seems £ ott to me too and how many of these cars have been "properly" / correctly restored.....

Difficult to know without details of all the cars but taking a C-Type, D-Type and XKSS (assuming that is what it is) and you could easily be accounting for 10% - 12% of the estimate just from those three, add cars owned by people like Mike Hailwood and you could be at 20% with another 400 cars left. I guess that does mean an average of £200k per car though so it could be an exaggeration.

Mike Hailwood owned at least one E-Type. I almost bought it (a fhc) some years ago but thought it was too expensive at £25k !

The collection is way over-valued.

He did have a huge insurance claim some years ago when someone broke into his storage facility and vandalised many of the cars. Allegedly.

Was genuine, a gang of yobbos broke into a storage area in Newport where some cars were being kept, and thought it would be funny to drive the cars around inside the lock up, smash them into each other, jump up and down on them etc. Most of them were wrecks.

Was that a load of rare low mileage jags? I remember reading about it.
Even valuing the cars at a very generous 100k each on average we dont get half way to the valuation...

Yeah, he was gutted.

I don't really know many specifics about his collection, I've seen it a few times but don't know much detail so can't comment on the valuation.
