there are so many stories about guys having long term pain from this its nuts (get it!) to risk it.....even now, months on, i get the odd twinge. If that were a routine pain (as it seems to be for some) it would drive me mad.

not worth doing anything until you are 100%

been laid up most of today, its driving me up the wall. I usually visit the gym at least 4 times a week and I cycle every day 12 miles to work and back...no bike for ATLEAST a week. dammit.

Must admit, I had a tentative look earlier but when I removed my underwear there was a definite twinge as things, ahem, hung.

Had mine done so went thru the humiliation and pain. Enjoyed tha sample side as part of the deal was it was not a DIY job.... Sent sample off to be told I was still fertile and had to have it done again ..... Was told I had thick tubes WTF...so had to go through pain etc again which was worse as I knew what was going to happen.

Did not pay second time which is a bonus and boss doctor did the job....

Well, I have just joined the club.

Procedure was uncomfortable to say the least but I do have form for being a complete wuss with these things.

Currently sat at home watching st tv hoping my plums are the size of water melons by the morning!

Oops. Aren't. Definitely aren't.

I blame my typing incompetence on the traumatic experience of scalpel meeting scrotum earlier this afternoon!

I had it done 20 years ago, worst pain was the needle to both sides for the aneasthetic, jeez that hurt, next worse was the room being full of bloody trainee nurses giggling and pointing, no i'm not hung like a horse especially when it feels like i've just been kicked in the knackers by one.

a few years later i developed chronic pain in the rhs, it went on for years, coming and going. 5 years ago i finally managed to get permission for an exploratory op, so pain again, but no students - bonus!

Nothing strange found despite pain carrying on.

After another 2 years more investigations reveal that i've actually damage on my spine which is pressing on the nerves to my right bk, so not only does it constantly ache like i've just had it tapped (you know that slightly sickly feeling) but i had a second op' for no reason.

JIs there vast difference in service between the NHS & the likes of Bupa etc?
Doing a desk job & getting it done on a Thursday/friday & back at work for monday doable?
I had mine done on a Sunday evening (about the same time as Songs of Praise!), handed a 'modesty gown' which has large hole that your knob hangs out of and they got to work. MrsTheWife took great pleasure in watching the whole thing with interest. A couple of pairs of snug pants and I went back to work the next day. All completely free on the NHS and relatively pain free. Apparently the flavour is better now !

Bit of a thread resurrection, but it's about time I got this sorted, however I'm a complete wuss.

Not just a bit of a wuss, but a medically certified wuss. Anyone comes near me with a needle, and I'm on the floor passed out. I once blacked out in a dentists and ended up with a 6 inch scar along my back where I fell over, I have a scar on my bonce where I fell over having sliced my thumb open.

Ideally, I'd like to do it under a general, but that involves having a cannular in my hand, which is a big no no. I'm not 100% convinced I could sit (or lie) still, as I get a bit panicky in hospitals. However I've found a "no scalpel" vasectomy here;

http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception-guide/p...

I'm hoping that they could just get me smashed on laughing gas first, then give me a quick injection while I don't care, then bang it'll be over before I sober up...??

Anyone had a "no scalpel" version??

I had the no scalpel version.

I promise you having the snip is nowhere near as bad as you think it's going to be.
Stare at the ceiling - make inane small-talk with the doctor and it's all done in under 10 minutes.

Worried about a vasectomy?

Try having a reversal...................

Now that makes you clench your fists a tiny bit yes

Then after family number two I had a vasecomy again smile

Walk in the park compared to having a surgeon rummiging around your testicles trying to find the bits they snipped 10 years previously ......... headache

I remember watching a video of a vasectomy procedure when I was about 14 during PSHE. I remember thinking at the time that there was no way on god's green earth that I am ever having that done.

I am now over 20 years older and have three charming if untidy children. My thoughts on this procedure have not altered one iota, in fact, given the fact that some poor chaps get chronic pain, it has simply solidified my thoughts.

I am OOT

I had the no scalpel version 2 weeks ago. Friend of mine had it done previously and was out in the pub in 15 mins....

Mine wasn't so smooth. He struggled to find one of the tubes, it was hidden around the back. Lots of manipulation done to get it out. Eventually done, other side was smooth in comparison, so much so he brought the wife over for a closer look! Took an hour all in.

Had pain for 24hrs, mostly due to the manipulation though. Felt like I'd been kicked in the nuts. No issue with the procedure itself. Doc gave me a jockstrap which was very good for keeping things tight.

3 days in I started to get pain and swelling, possibly due to me walking/flying so much. Tight pants and couple of days of Nurofen sorted that, all good now.

Def recommend jockstrap

This all sounds pretty positive. I managed to have a (very) minor operation on Tuesday without passing out at all, which is a major step forward for me.

Booked in to see the doc at the end of the month.

I had the snip over 25 years ago. Top surgeon, all done privately. The surgeon cut a blood vessel in error. He failed to notice and I bled badly, and was in pain for weeks. Off work for maybe six weeks. Years to fully recover. Told it was 200/1 for there to be a problem. So you and 198 other blokes should be ok.
BTW. It worked but I cannot honestly recommend the op.

I had it done 2 weeks ago, op was fine, much easier than expected. No swelling/bruising at the time, very little pain, but I did take it easy.

6 days later I went back to work, had a little pain and swelling, not nice being able to feel your balls against both legs simultaneously whilst walking! Died down after a couple of days though, and is pretty much back to normal now.

Had a little pain for a day after my first few ejaculatons though!
