A Marcos 2500 is up for grabs on Car & Classic.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C501589#

Does this have the detoxed version of the TR6 engine as fitted to the TVR Vixen and M series?

I came close to buying a Marcos V6 last year but bought a TVR 2500 instead. I often thought the 2500 would be my preferred choice of the Marcos marque, not that you can be choosy with cars as rare as this. I'm guessing spares would be easier to source than the for 3 litre Volvo version.

Maybe a little pricey but apparently one of twelve built.

Any views?

It looks a nice thing - but it seems to me that it needs some setting up as it is riding like a tractor in the pictures

I really have no idea of what the market is like for these types of cars, but I can tell from experience that to properly rebuild a Marcos can easily cost more than this.

Nice photo and a beautiful car. It looks like quite a beast.

The ad's gone now, but that's not a 2.5 in the photo..

I think your're referring to Kickstart's car. His profile states it's a 1968 3 litre.

The car in the ad is/was yellow.

It looks like it's got the Triumph six.

Although difficult to tell from the photos the bonnet looks like it's got the rectangular bulge for the twin Strombergs. I think only the Volvo and Triumph straight sixes had this.

I wish I had room and funds for it!

Indeed - That yellow one is indeed more like I was expecting smile

The ad had vanished when I posted and I, mistakenly, thought the blue one was an image of the car for sale (I didn't think there was much wrong with the ride height! biggrin)
