I've just joined up, been checking out the classifieds for a little while tho!

I've a question...I've a TVR LT77 box in my kit, and wondered how the hell I find a speedo to fit?

Any suggestions welcome

Welcome to NEPHers forum. I have no idea about the box. An older TVR I'm guessing. What kit is it that you have this in?

A quick Google seems to suggest (including some posts found on PH) that it's a Rover SD1 box. I would assume therefore that an SD1 speedo would do the trick

As for the TVR's it was used in...Some Wedges,Griffiths, V8Ss and Chimaeras?

LT77 is a Vitesse gearbox bob, it's from all manor of different BL stuff and appears to be a common mod for TVR's (takes high torque figures with ease).

What is your actual problem? The nylon gear or the actual cable? If it's the cable try www.speedycables.co.uk although by all accounts they aren't that great (they are the only one I know of however).

Yeah, I forgot to say what problem was!

I've got a speedo drive that comes out of the box, but it then has two wires coming off-what are these for? I presumed the speedo worked off a sensor, but this didn't feel right, I thought it would be a 'standard' cable...

Sounds like the reverse light switch to me. Early cars with this box have a cable operated speedo and later Griffs and Chims have an electronic pickup operated from the prop. Hope this helps. Tony.

Yeah, hexhamhc, there is also a reverse switch, so I knopw thats not what I've got, plus the 'drive' section in the box points to it being a speedo sensor...damn!
