I'm looking at two LHD 996 GT3's that are currently available, neither is currently in UK, but I am buying one to bring with me to use in UK as I am moving back soon. One is a Mk 1 Club Sport with 38,000 miles on it and the other is a Mk 2 Club Sport with 67,000 miles.
Having owned both models in the past and I prefer the drive of the Mk2, but I like the thought of owning the original Mk 1 car especially as they will soon be hard to buy with prices going up as they are.
I am looking for an educated opinion as to what they are worth now, but there are so few for sale in UK or Europe I am really struggling to come up with a figure, I don't mind paying what they are worth, but could do with some guidance as to what that value is today. Anyone bought one recently or know what they are worth now?
How long is a piece of string? Where are you buying them from? Any mods? Any crashes? Having owned both models in the past and I prefer the drive of the Mk2, but I like the thought of owning the original Mk 1 car especially as they will soon be hard to buy with prices going up as they are.

buying internationally, but I can work out and deduct shipping and tax easy enough from a representative UK price. Both are completely standard, accident free cars in Club Sport trimNAS90 said:

The UK price is somewhat irrelevant, however, I would hazard a guess that if a RHD 996.1 CS with that kind of mileage was advertised for sale, it would go for £75k in a heart beat. A quick look in Europe shows that there is not a single genuine Mk1 CS for sale. I bought my Mk1 CS in August last year - at that time there were 5 for sale in Europe. Another member on here bought an absolute minter Zanzibar one, so that reduced the pool to four Bear in mind we are very close to the start of the track day season, I doubt you will see many for sale.
I would hazard a guess that the 996RS craze is dragging the Mk1 CS up. Whatever Chris of Harris is telling you, most collectors have awaken to the fact that the Mk1 really is pure and 100% analogue, it was handbuilt by Porsche Motorsport and most importantly, it is the ORIGINAL, which spawned the current lineage. An educated guess is that an excellent Mk1 CS in Europe would be around EUR65k to 70k now. Yes, I know it is more than a 997.1 CS, but I think it is all about collectors now, and the 997.1 CS will never have the same cachet.
There are three Mk2 CS cars for sale, which would set you back around £50k all in by the time you have registered them here. So, still an amazing bargain in relative terms.

You are spot on its purely collectors now. Farking boring if you ask me which is why I moved my 6RS on for a 997.1 which I drive and enjoy. FWIW LHD is no real issues when u get used to it

Who says LHD is a problem at all? Sadly you are right on using it less - I bought my car to drive it, but with 27k miles on the clock I am getting more and more conscious of "destroying" value, which is a shame...

Thanks for the prices, it is good to have some idea of what i should pay, just need to decide which one nowA quick look in Europe shows that there is not a single genuine Mk1 CS for sale. Prices for UK RHD ones are certainly on the up…….
Mind you, asking is one thing, achieving is another. This one is a nice spec….but then I'm biased (same as mine)!

I would not touch this with all the penae (correct spelling?) and barge poles on PH combined. It is in Sicily... and it has armchairs... Italian service history - Pah!Slippydiff said:
Oxymoron alert ! !
This is the same car that was on the mainland last year I think ? The vendor wanted a deposit before entertaining a viewing
Precisely... Years ago, bought an Italian Golf GTI Mk3 16v - it had working aircon and zero rust, which was a major bonus. It was also chipped and had nice 15" wheels. It had genuine 50,000 miles - the annual MOTs added up. And it had never been serviced. All the purported stamps from the VW dealer were fake. Turned out to be a nice car, and at EUR4500 I was not that bothered. But an Italian GT3? And don't get me started on a 320iS or several Lancias. Another joy with the Italians was/I guess still is is the old insurance fraud where a crashed car would be cloned onto a straight but previously stolen car somewhere in EEurope. Nearly got burned on a mint 928GTS 5-spd once. This is the same car that was on the mainland last year I think ? The vendor wanted a deposit before entertaining a viewing
