Use Sagepay but Paypal PRO will save us £6k p/a in commision

No problems with Pro here, added benefit that your fees go lower if you offer Pay Pal too as the fees are based on what you stick through them as a whole. Can't accept Amex cars but has 3DS. Been pretty rock solid TBH, had an issue with payments failing after 3DS but was fixed quickly. What solution are you looking at with Pro?

Quoted us Amex at 1.4% - just double checked it.Pay Pal Pro in the UK doesn't support Amex, some cards works some don't. Went through that about 3 weeks ago as we were looking to sort it once & for all & got that answer (our cart was programmed to take it from day 1 but all the guides seem to be generic & take the american system into account). Maybe it does on their hosted solution which means people will be making payment off your site & it will be Pay Pal branded.
Well if that's the case then the merchant support ticket I have from 3 weeks is bullst. I'll contact them again in the morning when I get a minute. For us it's a case of ticking a box to make it active again but I won't do that when they say UK cards are not supported!
Who's saying this, sales or merchant support?

To be honest I only found out we were changing today at our management meeting, the manager and finance guy are looking at all overhead and this is their baby. I am a big believer that people like PayPal, I never used to be, I thought it smacked of eBay seller but it's very popular and I prefer it as well when I buy. Will check tomorrow.
Pay Pal is fine, we've offered it for years. But IMO you want the card option to be unbranded. Some people HATE Pay Pal & when they click pay by card & see their logo will click off your site. The 2 out of the 3 options used to have Pay Pal branding & probably still do, it's those two that accept Amex.

According to that Amex is not accepted which is what we were told 3 weeks ago.

Let me know how you get on as I'll be having strong words with MTS if they now pass Amex cards fine. As I said when we had it switched on it worked for some cards. When one failed we queried it & they said they were not supported in the UK! Have they mentioned Amex Safekey to you? You have to apply to Amex for that then go through Cardinal to have the account setup to pass the info.

Are you now live with this? Amex cards working??
Yes and no, its ready to roll but as we are having a new UK website and Brightperl CMS we decided to do the lot at once, Brightperl launches August attached to old website, new website Sept.I have got in writing that AmEx is not an issue.
