Recently I've been playing with the tivo since its new to me... and long story short it seems to be recording films willy nilly, I of course have seen The Running man a long while ago but it was recorded by the tivo box so I gave it a nostalgic viewing...

Is it better than the hunger games? Of Course!

Is it almost a good prediction of the near near future, actually shockingly I might well be, have you seen the hysteria for xfactor and simon cowell? people more interested in a show than local politics, whilst you wonder about the corruption that goes on? Maybe I'm looking too deep?

"Killian, I'll be back" - you have to admire a man making so many films with only 1 line of dialogue.

It's a dreadful film and really not worth watching.

As were nearly all of SK's stories from his Bachman period. All very good stories as well, I particularly liked Roadwork and The Long Walk.

Rubbish. It is entertaining enough.

Unlike, say, Monsters University. Or a thousand other turds.

The book is much better, although it maybe depends on which way round you do them. I did the book first.

Amen +1

It still is fun to watch, with its tongue firmly in cheek - and with Arnold at his zenith.

Oh yes the Long Walk is about as dark as it can get.

I read the book before seeing the film, that kind of confused me when I saw the movie.

As for bad, you must be kidding, it is a classic!?!? What happened to Buzz Saw? He had to split........

The Running Man is a classic.
Hampered by it's tech of the day.
It is one of those things that in my head may benefit from a reboot...if the originals hard edge and satire can be kept. Not seen it but Robocop seems to be a great example of updating a classic satire leaving out the satire. Maybe Charlie Brooker should write it?
