Yes, there was more wooden acting in last night's episode than The Woodentops....

Although it was good to see Tracy get the clap, (sorry slap) she so richly deserved.

Meanwhile, Bethany is falling headlong into dastardly drug dealer Callum's evil trap...the rotter.
wooden acting or not i would take Joanie over Tracy any day

Yes. More "Top Tottie" from Corrie, but I suspect only for a few episodes.

As an old git closely approaching his state pension, I have become perturbed by my growing attraction to the delights of Bethany Platt. I know the actress is actually 19 years old, but I feel mildly disgusted with myself. Before you know it, I'll be hanging around the netball pitches at the local girls' grammar school.........

I rather enjoyed last night's two episodes. Nothing particularly interesting happened, but the script was good, and kept me amused.

When Sarah and Bethany were arguing in the cafe - Anna "It's going to be a long ooooold summer....."

Bethany's leather attire (it was so miniscule I couldn't see if it was a skirt or hotpants) just reminded me of Herr Flick in Allo Allo, reminiscing about his days in the Hitler Youth when "we wore very tight leather shorts".

I thought for a moment that Tim had reverted to type, the old style bone-idle Tim, but he seems to just not want to increase his responsibilities and commitments. Don't blame you. mate. And he used the word "vexed". I love that word, it always reminds me of Stanley Holloway's monologue "Albert and the lion". "Mother, yon lion's ate Albert, and mother said eee I am vexed."

The running gag about the doughnuts was good too. Corrie at its best.

I was waiting for Sarah Lou to catch Bethany and Callum having a sexy snog, I think the writers missed a trick there.....Fireworks a plenty.....

Sally seems really smitten with Tim, she should just accept he's no Richard Branson and enjoy their relationship. He's a window cleaner ffs!

Tim's a good character....I like him.

He seems very comfortable in the company of Anna. I keep wondering whether we'll see a complicated relationship scenario in the months to come.

Tim is a TERRIBLE window cleaner, though.
In the shots the other night when Craig was 'helping him' clean the Kabin's windows - there were streaks all over and huge areas where he'd 'missed a bit'...!
Perhaps this post would have been better on the 'you can tell you're getting old when..' thread! wink

The thing is..... he's not really a window cleaner, he's an actor. Reminds me of "Sinbad" from Brookside, so named because he only cleaned a circular central part of each pane, thus resembling a porthole.

Same as Kev and Ty in the garage - I'm surprised they ever finish a job, they just seem to push and prod around under the bonnet, never actually doing anything useful. Now you're going to tell me they're not really mechanics......

You don't say.....!
I'd like to say I can clean windows fairly well - and I'm a cameraman, not a window cleaner. ...!

I remember the Mrs telling me ages ago that was on the cards.
On a different subject, watched the original series of "The Syndicate", "Tim" had a bit part as drug dealing gangster... I struggled with that smile

Oh yes. Good housewife, good cook, caring and understanding, lovely smile, and....um.... some large attributes. Plus she's not socially aspirant. She wins hands down.

Maybe Roy should consider renaming his café Anna's Baps....smile

That would certainly bring the punters in.

Has anyone noticed in the background, there's a hardware shop shown, in scenes where people are sitting in the bus shelter, on the corner of The Street, next to Audrey's salon, but it never seems to be open...scratchchin

An opportunity to introduce a new character there....

Noticed that, and also noticed that it wasn't there on the old set - there was a view along another street in it's place:

And talking of opportunities to introduce new characters, did you know there are 2 unused houses at the end of the row containing Roy's Rolls and Elliot's Butchers (opposite the builders yard)? According to the tour guide, they were added to the set a few years back but then they didn't have the budget to introduce any new characters to live in them! You can see them here:

It would suit a "Ronnie Barker-style" owner in a brown dust-coat who sells nails by the pound. And fork 'andles.

Indeed.....

Funny story:-

Just down the road from me is a traditional good old fashioned hardware store, you know the type of place....

I was in there about twelve months ago buying some bits and there were two (sniggering) builder types in front of me who asked the assistant for some fork handles.....

Without altering the expression in his face, the assistant (who was dressed in a brown warehouse coat) reached down under the counter and emerged with painted sign on the end of a stick, which he held up with a deadpan look in front of the two men.

The sign said:- "FORK HANDLES IS NOT FUNNY"

The look on the two men's faces were a picture....biggrin

Great line last night:

Sarah : What about that Gemma, she's always sniffing around?
Callum: Gemma! Do me a favour, she's half the reason the pub is called the Dog & Gun!

I liked the moment when Cathy was trapped helplessly under her hoarded rubbish, but still found the time to taste a dip from her Tonana pie. Typical Corrie humour.
