If there is any draw it's going to be messy.
I agree. It's not going to do anything for my blood pressure but the bald fact, albeit an awful cliche, is that any one of those three sides could beat the other on a given day. It's going to be tremendous. England will (should) benefit from home advantage and both England and Wales could be said to benefit slightly from Northern Hemisphere conditions but the margins are tight. Could come down to refereeing decisions as A311 mentioned above which would be a shame.

Wales having Uruguay up first could be problematic: they'll win but will it be by enough? I think it's massively in their favour that they play Fiji at home albeit not a long turnaround after the ENG/WAL game as I have a snagging feeling that game will be very tight.

Not sensing any engagement in the competition outside the rugby heartlands yet, hopefully that will build over the coming weeks. Nevertheless, having missed out on the first ballot and then refusing to engage on the grounds of cost (and a fit of pique..) had a USA/Samoa ticket (Brighton) land in my lap today so looking forward to seeing a bit of it live.

I had the chance of this too but really pricy tickets - so added up all the costs id face on that day and the nightmare of getting home..

Instead have got 2x 72pint kegs of local beer ordered grinds and family round lots of food. Everyone chipping in as it turns out so it will cost essentially nothing and guaranteed a good time plus the little uns can have some fun too.
Sure it's not the same as being there ... I've been to so many Test games now and the huge after and pre drinks to last me a lifetime so this works well. ... Now if Wales destroy England I'll be wishing I was there smile.

It wasn't a joint bid was it, just an English one I think? So games in Cardiff are spill over aren't they?
That's right. I think they thought using the Millennium was a good idea instead of two bit grounds like Elland Rd...

Mind you they've also subtlety manipulated the fixtures well. We get two days less recovery than England before our tie for example. Then after that Wales only get 4 days until Fiji whereas England enjoy a week off.

What this means is Wales play their first 3 games in 11 days but England play theirs in 15.

Still. You've got to use that home advantage. We'd probably do the same.

Oh yeah. And England play their final group game against Uruguay last after we play Australia, meaning they'll have the luxury of knowing how many points they need to stick on the whipping boys prior to kick off.

Went to Cardiff years ago with my proper, English is my second language (just), Welsh mate and his friends. The drinking was at a level I hadn't seen before. A very good day.

I'm investing my ticket savings in a TV/surround sound upgrade in a typical piece of man maths.

The big ticket matches were just getting to be silly prices and I couldn't justify it - esp when it would have to be two tickets.

Ticket prices put me right off. Rip off, and the secondary shyster sites must be raking it in.

I am in a group that goes to most games - a surprising amount of us have decided not to bother because of the ridiculous cost.

there is also a glut of events, many of which are struggling to sell.

We cancelled our rugby festival this year as there is just too much other stuff on.

Cat B tickets for England group games are £215 face value! so if you live in the wastelands of the north your are on about £600 to get there and back if you go by train. Then you are stuck in Twickenham at 10pm
So including a hotel and beer and food you must be looking at £8/900 for two of you FOR ONE MATCH.

I suppose you could drive there and back but that sort of defeats the object for me.

2 face value tickets for each England game, both Qfs they could reach and semi final and final add up to over 4K. Mental.

I may buy a few singles on Via gogo or whatever it is called and meet up with some mates who will be working for the matches but I am getting a bit old for nights out that start at 10pm!

Ticket prices are a piss take, money grabbing the wes the whole lot of them.

I'm up north so wouldn't have been entertaining the England games but Newcastle is <2 hours away and looks like I'll be in the area anyway so looked at either Scotland V South Africa or Samoa-£90 for the cheap seats! Wonder if they'll sell out? St James's Park is a big stadium but reasonably close Scotland but still? I may take a wander by and if i can pick up tickets I might if not carry on to the pub.

I'm quite happy with my MK and Villa tickets for Aus and Fiji matches to be honest. Both are against Uraguay and I shall be shouting on the minnows smile

Apologies if I have reminded everyone of the ticket cost frown

I actually didn't get tickets in the lottery and nor did my best mate but he made everyone on his desk put in for them and one guy got 4 x tickets for Eng. V Wal. so my buddy is taking his missus, myself and Mrs9.

I'll be buying dinner and drinks, no doubt!

I did think the prices were unbelievably extortionate. They rather priced out the grass-root support, sadly.

Still, I genuinely feel that watching with your mates, on a big screen, at a pub is the best way to enjoy the whole experience. So that's what I'll be doing for the other games!

Unless we make the Final, in which case I maaaaaaaaaay see what tickets are selling for on the open market. For us to be in a Final at home would be a massive thing, an experience I am never likely going to be able to repeat!

Of course,, if they are over say £1,000 each then no frown

If England get to the final I think they will be about 4K each.

You reckon the cheapest seat would be £4k? Ouch! Will scratch that off the bucket list then!

That's a mint condition, low miles 106 S1 Rallye (this is PH, after all) right there.

Watched the 2007 RWC Final from my hotel in the Maldives, which would be a better way to spend that money!

EDIT: Just been offered a pair of tickets for the Eng V Ire match this weekend at £85 a piece... Tempted!

Sounds about right, I paid £800 on ebay for 2x tickets for the 2003 final, in hindsight, a brilliant deal!

I went to the France warm-up and going to the Ireland game, also have tickets for Wales on 26th and ABs vs Argentina and Namibia. Prices for the QFS and beyond were silly money.

I was pretty chuffed to pick up the Ireland tickets at face (my buddy at BarCap got them from a colleague) and the Wales tickets but it sounds like we'll be priced out of the others.

On the RWC website, there were still tickets for Uruguay in Manchester and I thought that may be a good boys night out but my best mate would rather watch it in the pub (probably means he wants to bring the wife, which is fair enough as he's on a stag this weekend)... Which is fine.

Think that game may be far more exciting/ interesting than the fixture suggests depending on whether a big score is needed!

Saturday should be an interesting game with two full strength teams (pretty much, by the looks of things) facing off!

The Eng v Irl game will be a real eye opener I reckon. I'm english and can't believe how confident the media seem to be but forgetting that we got taught a lesson last time by them and they deserve their higher ranking. Irl are definitely the favourites in my book.
Will be a cracking game though as I think both teams will be up for a proper test match - none of this warm up nonsense.
