They are something of a bargain. Autocar got 0-60 in 3.8s, they'll do 180+ and - if sorted by a pervious owner and driven regularly as intended - should be reliable. Maybe for now, those upgrading have done so and their cars will have been snapped up quickly, so only 'keepers' are left and by definition these aren't for sale.

I've never seen load for sale, in fact the complete opposite. It took me nearly 9 months to find the colour I wanted.

Quite rightly locked up in garages! Even if I was getting bored of mine and didn't automatically smile when I admired her curves in the garage, I just don't know what (for a similar budget) I could replace her with.

I'd say that they've been through the "churn" owners who buy new, enjoy and then exchange for a new one, and have now filtered down to enthusiast level. Added to which, with all the stuff written about the 993 range being the air-cooled purist's choice, some people will want to hang on to them as a keepsake.

I wonder how many are in the UK? Think they made about 7000 in total, and a fair chunk of them will be in the USA. More to the point, how many RHD models did they make?

I agree with Nel, sure there are faster, more comfortable cars but none are as all round gorgeous as the 993tt. I think of the newer cars (not just porkers) as a bit like mobile phones with always a newer 'better' model out next week to prise the owners away and into the next best thing.

When I took my car to Chandler Stewart for the scuttle panel nearly the entire workshop came out to admire it! The workshop manager said it's been so long since he's seen one and it's great to see one that gets used! The garage was full (about 50) of silver 996's and boxters.

Guys,

I`m currently in the process of selling my 993tt and agree completly with what you 993tt owners are saying. Unfortunately due to an impeding house sale I need the capital and the tt has to go. But the tt is the best overall package out there(IMHO) and I cant think of any other car in the price range that competes and has the curves of the tt. I will definately get another one again.

Ronnie, agree with Nel- don't do it!
I got alot of stick when I "wasted all this cash on a Porsche" from people at work- the same losers that buy new cars and waste it on depreciation! Well I'm buying a house now, but obviously had to go for a slightly cheaper house then I could have, but still fulfilling my needs.

The 993TT - fullfills my needs as a blisteringly superfast coupe but also a bit of a GT, and the engineering of it keeps me facinated!
I think the thing with 993TTs are that initially they changed owners more often then many cars because of the segment they're in- indeed 6-7 owners isn't uncommon at this age, and nothing to worry about if the last owner owned it a while and it was looked after. Now however they're getting to the owners who want to hang onto them and are really not interested in trading up to the latest thing.

I know I'll be keeping my car for as long as I stay in this country! I have no desire to move on. Indeed I wouldn't know what to move to!

Oh, 1375 is a figure I've heard for UK examples, I've also heard around 375 so your guess is as good as my own for the correct number!

Sorry to hear you are having to sell the car Ronnie.

As Nel said, I don't know of any car that is comparable to the TT within its price range.

When I got mine in the summer there were very few about too, one at Autobahn, one at the OPC in Nottingham, and one at Hedon Way Motors. I was very lucky getting mine......I saw it advertised in the OPC ads within the 'Driving' section of the Sunday Times, phoned them up and put a (refundable) deposit on it to secure the car till I had chance to go look at it. According to form, loads of people phoned up trying to do the same on the Monday morning. Phew!

There are usually a few TT's in the back of 911 and Porsche World and GT Purely Porsche.
