Hi, new to PH and would really welcome some advice. We had a pushchair stolen from our car this week and it was really the nail in the coffin for our 406 (not that it needed another nail) it's been dying a long and slow death.

So decision made - new car. I'm keen on the V70, but I know very little about what to look out for in Volvos. Any tips, advice would be greatly received and appreciated.
eg.
older (57 old shape) with lower milage 30k vs newer (59 with high milage 70k
D5 vs 2.0d
manual vs auto
problems
V70 over V50?
can i get good car for £8k - 9k?

Thanks

I'd go for the older shape D5 decent car to drive. V50 is rather small for an estate. Stay away from the auto boxes though as they are made from chocolate.

V70 D5, 2004 onwards (after restyle). 2.0d sounds like a tractor in comparison and is not as reliable. I'd prefer a manual but watch out for noisy dual mass flywheels. V50 is a nice car, essentially a focus underneath. Shop around as there are plenty out there
