RE: Go electric!

I am amazed renault uk are not all over this thread providing helpful answers to the questions of prospective buyers.
One of the charger companies is driving a Zoe all the way roun te uk this week. One might think an opportunity for some positive pr especially regarding chargers and range anxiety.

Well, we would - but you've done a great job while I've been asleep!squirejo said:

It certainly is - as the major supporting partner we've joined in with organising events as they do the tour to make the most of it. type111 said:

I'd love to know how many women buy a zoe when its released. I don't get why they would bring out an electric car that only women will drive.
Do you even save any money running an electric car? You've got electric costs, battery depreciation or battery lease costs, similar rip off servicing, similar insurance prices, outlay for wall charger etc.
It has been out for a while now in this country! There are quite a few for sale on Autotrader and they command a pretty decent price even when second hand. As for the wall charger, I had a Rolec Electric Charging unit fitted last week free of charge. Had a slip through the door from a company offering them, it seems they claim the cost back from the government.Do you even save any money running an electric car? Is it just the name that makes you think its aimed a purely female audience? Because lots of cars have ladies names, Lotus Elise springs to mind...or Renault Clio.Do you even save any money running an electric car? I find this very odd. Why have an electric car for 6 miles? Unless you have some condition that massively limits mobility surely a bike or public transport (depending on wether you live in a city or not) is going to be cheaper, better for the environment, better for you and leave you to get something interesting and more PH for those few days for less environmental damage and cost than using an EV for that short a distance. That and cycling is far more enjoyable than sitting in a soul destroyingly boring EV.
Don't. Like most things in life it's about appropriateness relative to circumstances. At the time i commute, my journey time is halved by road compared to public transport and more enjoyable as I get to choose my own music, temperature and route, whilst avoiding the fat man with BO who tends to grace the tube. I save my cycling for leisure/ pleasure to avoid death by lorry and breathing the taxi and bus carcinogens deep into my lungs that grace our Capital. It's far from boring to drive a Zoe, (or an i3) with instant torque and low c of g, it actually a very effective way of slicing through London. Nor am I bored by getting into a perfectly cooled interior activated by iPhone on these warmer days. (Or a defrosted car in winter...)
Clearly Evs are not for everyone and this PH initiative is interesting. It seems to me that those who have experienced one are less sceptical than those that have not. We have come a long way from the hateful G wizz...
I don't think Evs (with the possible exception of Tesla, as yet a bit untested in the UK) can be a realistic only car in the uk yet don't worry about the need for something a bit more 'PH' as yesterday I was blasting thru the Cotswolds in this:
That is a very cool two car garage, I think the kids would call it modern vintage...

Problem is the £3 per day for the battery, whether you drive it or not. That's the killer for me, I can buy a lot of petrol for that on the other side of the equation.
If you don't drive it you don't need to charge it, well not for 3-4 weeks Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
