Pretty much covered this in the thread title: does a driver who has a grandfathered C1 entitlement require a DCPC to drive professionally after September?

Someone asked me earlier thinking that Id know as I have an HGV licence, but I wasn't sure. C & C+E drivers will need it obviously, but beyond this Im not sure as I hadn't (possibly incorrectly now) regarded C1 as a vocational category before...

Yup im afraid so, did my last day on Sat and we run everything from vans right thru to artics.

On sat there was 3 of our 7.5t drivers there who have either one day or two to do.

Also a tad off topic but I've thus far done 28 of my 35 hours CPC. Knowing myself well I'll no doubt leave it until the last minute to do the last 7 hours, can I drive as soon as the 7 hours are done or do I have to wait for my card to arrive?

Any vehicle over 3.5 tonnes GVW with less than 10 total seats is a LGV

DCPC is for the commercial driving of all LGVs

After 09/09/2014 all LGVs being driven commercially require the driver by law to carry a current DQC - driver cpc card

£50 if DQC not carried
£1000 for both driver and employer if relevant dcpc training not done

No big campaign yet but I suspect after 09 Sept this year the authorities will be targeting both LGV & PCV drivers as after that date they must be carrying a valid DQC
