Unless I'm missing something that article is from 2010. That car has been out of plan since Bahar got the boot.

I hope you're right - I hadn't noticed the date.

Kambites is definitely right, all of those projects/concepts were an idea that was beyond the scope of what was possible at lotus. Probably beyond what would be possible at any major manufacturer!

The Bahar 5 car plan was axed a very long time ago. When I was up at the factory a few weeks back discussion was around keeping the Elise in production for a few more years with the development and updating focus being on the more profitable cars in the range (Evora & Exige).

I know this is probably well known now but I've only just become aware that the Elise is being totally revamped come 2015...I like the back but not so keen on the side profile.

Oh...and the £35k base price :-(

That's not happening. Was scrapped.

Glad to hear it - as much as I like the auto in my current car, I think I'd rather have the elise in manual. Not only that, but the pics of the proposed newer model makes it look less hardcore than the current model.

That's a strong deal, when you consider the final payment is only 10k! It would be worth at least 15k at three years, the only thing I would say is you'll need ac and ideally carpets as options. Stereo can be retrofitted by the dealer or yourself

Thanks for that Richard. I was just speaking to Ben at Westover who has been excellent. It would seem that at present, what I owe on my bmw against what I'd get for it as a trade-in is pretty similar so I don't think it's a viable option yet. He advised to wait until I've hit the 10k mile mark and look at things again given that I'm paying more per month than the car's depreciating.

I'm in no rush if I'm honest but I just hope that this offer remains into the new year!

Tis a sad day - my wife and I paid Murray Lotus a visit today only to find that I don't fit in the damn thing! The hard top would be achievable if I was prepared to endure some discomfort in my lower back but it just wouldn't be sensible in the long run as I already suffer from back ache now and again.

...which leads me to the question - what else? For the looks vs price I really can't think of anything that catches my eye as much...the hunt continues.

The Evora is slipping under the 30k mark now, though a pretty different proposition to the Elise in terms of character and running costs.

Europa? Roof sits slightly higher, and easier to get in out of. Pretty good performance as well. There's a lovely se for sale in the classifieds which should be a solid investment due to lack of cars around (only 5 poss 6 as one more may of been found this week that lotus didn't know about) in the country.
