I'm currently tackling Logarius. What a tt he is! Definitely the cheesiest boss so far, but I think he'll soon be seen off (on my second attempt I got him down to about 1/5th of his health). Those scythe attacks are pure cheese, coming straight through the spires I use for cover against his ranged attacks. And that spell where he plants the sword in the ground? What a pain in the arse.

I may put some time levelling my skill up to 30 or so, and possibly fortify my cane up one level (I think I have enough Bloodstone Chunks now). It's not so much my health that is the immediate problem (I can comfortably run out of blood vials in the fight against him, a sure sign that your tactics or attack power are flawed, and that the boss is not overpowered). The problem is that my cane does so little damage to him with R1 attacks, and he generally dodges too quickly to hit with an R2. I just need a little more attack power (and possibly some consumables like molotovs and poison knives) to tip the balance in my favour and finish him.

And man, how overpowered are those beasts outside the castle gates? I had thought the entire of Cainhurst would be like that, those things are fierce. Difficult to stagger or interrupt, dealing massive damage with quick attacks and attacking in groups. Compared to those, the ghosts and knights inside are piss easy!

Are those the things with big red distended bellies ?

They are pretty tough! They have a chance of spawning in chalice dungeons if you kill something, leave the room and come back in. You randomly find them standing over the dead body.

Another annoying enemy outside Cainhurst are those snakes / worm things. They are so hard to hit.

I leave both of those enemies the fk alone.

Oh, and you can charge attack & backstab Logarius. Takes a chunk of his health off.

Yes, those are the things! I hate them. Luckily once you've cleared the area at the Cainhurst gate of items, you can rush past them into the Castle.

I've not had any invasions yet, are they limited to the endgame areas?

Indeed, having just entered the Vileblood Covenant, I think that is the first real mention of PVP made in the game so far, other than the invasion bell that the messengers sell. I'm glad of that to be fair, as PVP has always been dire in Souls games. At least in DS1 and 2, you could easily bring up the dash window and start a party with just you in it which would cut off the invader and allow you to quit. Dark Souls 2 was also laudable because the main PVP areas were well signposted and you could just play in offline mode until you were safely through them. It didn't help that there were so many cheesy builds and weapons available in the previous games that dedicated PVP trolls were everywhere.

The end game area NIghtmare Frontier and Nightmare of Mensa are both PvP hotspots. THis is because they are the only areas that have a bell maiden ringing a sinister bell regardless of whether or not you ring your beckoning bell. If you don't want PvP, don't jsut disconnect and kick the invader, go and find and kill the bell maiden.

You will get invaded a LOT. It's great.

Just play in offline mode if you want to avoid PvP, simple? Or am I missing something?

Yes, that avoids unwanted invasion but it also stops the messages and death spectres. I'd rather have those present, and just boot invaders when they arrive.

More messing with people in Menis. I had a couple of derpy deaths...

Baryonx, treat us invaders like an additional, more unpredictable enemy. When we come into your game we get penalised with a 30% deduction from our max HP, so any invader has a lot less health than you!

To be fair though it seems as if invaders are completely ignored by NPCs, and the House of Frenzy, which bearing in mind where they usually are in the game means they're probably 2-3 hits or a single flurry away from being dropped anyway.

I can get the logic that burning through your vials fighting a guy who loses nothing if they fail isn't particularly fun if all you're trying to do is PVE, particularly in areas like Nightmare of Mensis where it seems fk all drops vials anyway. Such is the nature of the game though - the downside (balance?) to being able to summon co-op help is invaders.

Aarrrggghhh. Biggest loss so far now stands at 41,000 blood echos frown

There I was, minding my own business, running round the Cathedral Ward, killing off enemies, when I spot a new enemy just to the left of the spawn point. No worries, I think, he's on his own, I can take him before I cash in my lovely bounty. STOP CRUSHING MY HEAD!! STOP CRUSHING MY HEAD!! eekconfusedmadragecensoredcensoredcensored

I'm now stuck in a spiral of death trying to get out of the Unseen Village.

I love this game smile

I'm at that bit after killing Rom where you get the respawning enemies, bell ringers etc

Should it be totally rock hard or do I need to go away and come back after leveling up some more?

You CAN warp out of there from the lamp, but you won't be able to go back till later on if you do.

It's worth persevering and beating one of the bosses in that area, but yes it's tough when you first go their early on.

Ya'Arghul ?

If so that's a hard area, one of the hardest in the game IMO. What level are you, I did it at Lvl 70 with a +9 weapon.

The boss is easy though. One of the easiest.

Nice to know it's not just me then!

Sounds like I'm a bit under-levelled - I'm at 60 or so, and my main trick weapon is only at +6. I need to find a source of blood chunks - the only once I've found so far is the one at the start of the Unseen Village level.

I bought this game on the 29th of March and have been playing it more or less daily ever since. I'm sitting at work now and itching to get home and switch the PS4 on for a blast. Easily one of the best games I've played and I think people will be talking about it for years to come, a classic indeed!

I am at level 99 and last night I killed Micolash. I'm feeling a bit sad that I've almost finished the game but it definitely has a high replay factor. Also I have helped a few times as a co-op and the NG+ looks like a huge challenge so I am looking forward to that.

I cannot for the life of me kill the Undead Giant in one of the dungeons though. Any tips??

Yeah, that's it.

Think I'm only like level 55 or something. Started doing a few dungeons to level up but they are a bit repetitive...

Need chunks!!

I killed him with no vials left and a sliver of health, and just seconds after the screen said "Prey Slaughtered" I was hit by one of the stray projectiles that was still in the air, killing me. Naturally I hadn't time to light the boss lamp.... <rage.jpg>

To cap things off because I was so cheesed off by that fail I wasn't giving the game the respect it demands when I was running through to get my dropped echos (some 70-80k worth, I didn't see exactly and don't want to know tongue out), and before I knew what was going on I got combo'd before I got anywhere close to retrieving them by some useless mob that would die in one two handed swing if I had been treating the game with respect. Nearly threw the controller at that one.

Also, end game (?) spoiler/question...

I beat Mergo's Wet Nurse and when I portalled back to the Hunter's Dream the house was on fire and the doll was telling me I had to go and speak to Gehrman. Went over to him and saw that he was in a field so naturally thought "ok boss fight coming up" and ran back again. I haven't yet beaten this Ebrietas, Celestial Being or Moon Presence bosses I've heard people talking about, nor Amygdala for that matter. Am I close to the end without realising it?
