Any Perth mechanics about?

Hi guys,
I currently have an old 205 gti that recently blew a headgasket, I got it rebuilt but now is refusing to idle, backfires and smokes, have had a mechanic check it out and the timing is correct and everything is as it should be, but they cannot find the issue.
If anyone on here is a mechanic and knows these cars, or knows of someone, I would love to hear from you.
So close to seeking it!
