Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.

What equipment/materials do you clean your car with? I've read about 2 bucket methods, and the average soap sponge not being so good for the paintwork. My dad cleans his with a cleaning mitt. Just wondering what the best method is, and best materials?

Also as a side note, say your car had a vinyl wrap. Can they still be cleaned in the same fashion?

Rinse the car...two buckets with grit guards, a decent wool mitt or natural sea sponge, nothing synthetic. Wash from top to bottom, clean the wheels separately, usually with separate chemicals and materials.

Rinse with an open hose, the water will sheet off the car. Dry with a proper drying cloth and then wax. Loads of other things to do, from a machine polish, through to claying and specific detailing, ie door rubbers, wheel wells, exhaust tips etc.

Finally dress the tyres, hoover the inside, clean the windows and away you go. How serious do you wish to get and how much do you want to spend on chemicals and tools?

As for wraps, no you use different chemicals, no water and no shampoos etc.

Use Harpic and Mr Muscle. That's what I use on my plastic bath and bog.
