Apparently so. Kits and factory built. Hence why I am looking for a used one

Back in 2010, I had to wait 6 months for a Roadsport kit.
Good that they are still busy smile

Anniesdad is expecting delivery very soon, the car has been built, after ordering at the end of January. He was quoted August it it seems to be arriving a month or more earlier than expected. About 5 months?

When I picked mine up a couple of weeks ago, they said orders now are being told February... That seems such a long time away, so not surprised you're looking for second hand! Given how new the 160 is, though, I'd be surprised if there's a second hand market yet.

Is yours a kit? How are you finding it?

Sorry for the confusion, mine's a Roadsport but I love it! I went for the 125 as for a first Caterham that was plenty powerful to be a lot if fun! I didn't drive the 160, but all the staff I spoke to had driven it and loved it. Different in character to the n/a 4 pots, but still very much a Caterham. Apparently it urges you to sit on the turbo at full chat which, given the (relatively) low power, isn't the problem on public roads that it is in the more powerful cars. All the reviews seem to laud it too.
I have to admit that I didn't really consider it, as I prefer the feel of a n/a engine.

I ordered a self build Supersport R last thursday and have been told "April 2015 Delivery"

No specific date in April was mentioned but I get the impression from the few people I have spoken to that delivery is normally 1 month earlier than the initial date specified.

I ordered my 165 in May, delivery date should be end of Spetember (CW 39), factory built. Then my dealer will assemble the wheather equipment and I hope I will get the car beginning of October. Then the trouble to get the car registered at the german authorities...

You must be getting very impatient.

On the bright side, my kit arrived November 2010 and I had it ready for IVA in April ready for the summer smile

The waiting is the worst thing, the days seem to go by very slowly as far as the completion date goes, best not to think about it too much if possible, then the day will finally dawn .. anyway, I've had an e mail saying the build of chassis number: 78161 of my Heritage Blue Seven 160 with it's British Green (or as near as damn it green, 'Vintage Green' I think) noseband starts today the 15th. I was toying with the idea of asking if it's possible to go to the factory at Dartford to see say an hour of the car being assembled some time during the assembly, bit like watching your baby being born rolleyes but rather think that these days with the factory being pretty busy that wouldn't be possible or even encouraged, anyone else wanting to go though?!

First post? Welcome to Pistonheads.

I drove a 165 in the UK to make this video, I got some funny looks driving it in England! hehe

It's a great car and I'm sure it is well worth the wait.
I have been a silent reader for a while, when I got the car, I will make a proper introduction of myself. It feels like a kid waiting for christmas. Great vid, I enjoyed viewing it - as I have been viewing as caterham 160/165 related video over and over the last weeks.

How was driving the 165? I am curious to hear some firsthand experience.

P.S. Excuse my poor English, btw, as I am not a native speaker.

Today I got an email from my dealer and opened it with a wide grin - I was supposed to pick up my 165 next week and expected some further details where and how to pick it up...

There were indeed some bad news, the delivery is postponed by 3 months, it's not the beginning of October but January instead. I am a bit shocked, I never experienced such behaviour before (and miss the opportunity to drive during the autumn). mad

I understand they've got some more orders than expected - but no warning beforehand?
