Certainly don't deserve to be any higher.

Seems quite accurate. I wouldn't fancy our chances against those above us anyway.

It's only the absence of any African teams at all in that top 20 which prevents it being even more embarrassing.eek Having said that I still don't think we'd have turned over the likes of Algeria or Nigeria had we met them in Brazil. As others have said though, not one f**k will be given, not by the FA, the players or anyone with influence- all of whom should be totally ashamed by how poor our national team is at the moment. Never mind, as long as the Sky money keeps rolling in eh rolleyes

Scotland haven't played any games so no increase or decrease in position it seems.

Although Scotland are now ranked around the same position as Costa Rica were before the World Cup so as long as Scotland emulates the Costa Rica performances in the next few games then we'll soon be above England.

Weren't Costa Rica written off by every pundit / expert as they were a wee diddy team and an easy 3 points? How did that go?

16 Points from the following Euro Qualifiers that includes the score draw with Germany! Well we can dream!

Scotland will beat England in the friendly.

Scotland Fixtures
September 2014
European Championship Qualifying - Group D
Germany v Scotland Sun 7 Sep 19:45

October 2014
European Championship Qualifying - Group D
Scotland v Georgia Sat 11 Oct 17:00

European Championship Qualifying - Group D
Poland v Scotland Tue 14 Oct 19:45

November 2014
European Championship Qualifying - Group D
Scotland v R. of Ireland Fri 14 Nov 19:45

International Friendlies
Scotland v England Tue 18 Nov 20:00

March 2015
European Championship Qualifying - Group D
Scotland v Gibraltar Sun 29 Mar 17:00

June 2015
European Championship Qualifying - Group D
R. of Ireland v Scotland Sat 13 Jun 17:00

For Engerluuund fans the new rankings are probably a good result as it might wake the FA up to the disaster of an International team / management they now have. Best league in the world?! and I'm sure the non English players are laughing all the way to the bank! They don't care as long as the TV money keeps olling in and until that changes your team will be a laughing stock as they are now.

It's hardly the players' fault that their domestic league at the highest level is made up of teams of foreign players with a few Englishmen scattered about here & there.

What about in the 60s( excluding 1966) 70s and 80s, how did England dominate world football?

I would imagine we would have always been well within the top 10....
Anyway, I fail to see why the top English sides fielding 8 or 9 foreign players all the time throughout all matches is going to help the English ones.
The current pool of available talent must be the smallest at the highest level than at any time previously.

I'm not too fussed about foreign players, plus I'd rather see my club win the Premier League/Champions League.

That looks about spot on to me. I'd move Mexico up to 17th and put us above Croatia & B and H but otherwise what we should have expected. With the squad we have at the moment I can't see us beating any of those teams above us certainly away and quite possibly at home too.

Which along with the money thing (and perhaps a slug of current English mentality generally) is why we aren't going to win anything any time soon.

Agreed. The fortunes of Chelsea are far more important to me than what happens to England.

Hope I'm not repeating anyone here,
but when the world rankings were reshuffled the other day and there was a collective gasp when we were ranked 20th.................................

that was a gasp of disbelief that we were that high right ?? (no humour in this statement)

The title of this topic is incorrect clearly.

F.A. still the number one enemy to national football in England.

If you tolerate this..........(manics)
