I don't see the point in having a captain at all. A football captain doesn't really have a function like say in cricket where he sets the field etc. All the tactical decisions are made from the bench.

He might be a source of encouragement during the game but that's about it.

Yup, most logical choice. Needs to learn a bit more off of Terry, but would be the best choice for the future.

Shrek is the last person they should give it too.

That is an awful team, shows the lack of real talent in the country at the moment. Not to mention selecting the wrong bloke as captain... rolleyes

Rooney is a petulant tt who doesnt deserve the armband, he goes missing in the big games and couldnt lead his weiner to the street corner let alone the england team to trophys.

Again, not massively disagreeing (even as a Utd and Wazza fan) but pick someone from that list above who does deserve it? Who is senior enough and a nailed on starter?
