Nice kit RS. One thing about music a bit later on in life is the gear's much more affordable!

Is that a USB mixer/interface you've bought? I'm after a basic one just to be able to get some 8 track recordings off my old zip drive(!) Boss recorder into stereo so I can burn to CD. Rather like the drum kit I start off looking at a cheap option and read a few bad reviews and work my way up to something many times more expensive. If it's like I'm after I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it.

(I've had to stop drumming as my hands are sore...might get the guitar out since I'm not into football/World Cup).
Bloody hell, Zip Drive, I'd forgotten all about that, time marches on!

Sorry it's not a USB version RS so I can't really recommend it for that, I just wanted a compact mixer plug the line out of my vocal floor pedal and an ambient mic into and send the mix to the in-ears. There is the Mackie ProFX8 live which is USB but I have no experience with it.

I don't think you can go wrong with Mackie for price vs quality (I have some HR624 monitors which have been great) but maybe someone else here has experience with a particular USB mixer.

Picked up an Orange OR120C a couple of weeks ago, so far I'm loving it, so much so in fact that my Digitech RP300 has gone into semi retirement/home recording only use as the amp on it's own on both channels seems to suffice.

Also picked up the EZ Drummer 2 Metal pack, I'm learning to drive it at the moment as I'm relatively new to this home recording lark but it does seem like an impressive bit of kit.

True...the headphones I'm using cost me a whole month's wages back in 1982. The guys in the mess thought I was mad, but 30+ years later they still sound great (and spares back up still too).

No problem, glad it made sense.

@Driller I'll have a look at Mackie stuff for USB mixers/interface. The zip drive recorder is hardly used, despite it's age, so it makes sense to get the stuff off it I've already recorded and maybe do some new recordings too.

@JaymzDead I like the look of those Orange amps...especially sat on top of a matching Orange cab.

Just picked up one of these in Denmark Street.

Should sound good through the Two Rock.

Highly versatile OD/Distortion pedal from a boutique pedal maker in Canada.

Just bought a Boss eBand, I have a feeling I should have done something like this 5 years ago.

I always play alone, not even comfortable when my O/H is listening, rarely play along to anything and hardly ever plug into an amp. Yesterday I unboxed the eBand, stuck on the first thing I liked the look of (Jazz Fusion in Cm) and played for 2 straight hours, I learned more new licks and runs in that time than I had in the previous 12 months.

Great fun.

Mine is never off.

For the record, I have nothing to do with Roland, Boss or anyone else. I just think it's awesome kit. smile

I finally got round to buying some strap locks. I got the Schaller ones from Dawsons as I happened to be passing and had half an hour to spare for a bit of browsing.

Trouble is now I want them for my other guitars...

PS. I ended up with the Alesis i04 USB mixer/interface, so far so good, but just waiting on some extra cables to come so I can use it in anger.

Been there and done that, sometimes it's easier to just buy the kit and figure out what you will need in order to connect it afterwards (especially as quite often they put leads in the box with the unit despite making no mention of it).

I just needed some phono to 1/4" jack leads so I can connect the output of my 8 track into the i04. Thought I had some somewhere, plus of course they'll turn up once the new ones arrive. At least they were cheap...

Tried out my T1Lives! for the first time last night. Bloody brilliant, didn't expect the sound isolation to be anywhere near as good. It was great fun looking at the drummer trying to make me wince hitting his drums as hard as he could. I just laughed at him with the ears in smile

ETA Up until now I've worn -25db filtered custom plugs and they are a good bit better at isolation than these.

€970 in fact but surely worth it to protect your hearing.

Absolutely! If I were a pro musician and spent much time in loud gigging environments they'd be a sure bet. I've a much cheaper set of ACS earplugs - seem to cut enough out to prevent issues and I don't need the monitoring capabilities those beauties have.

I used to use a set of moulded (silicone) plugs but they cut so much out (bass particularly) I was struggling to hear myself play. The ER-20s I use now are incredibly clear and completely prevented ringing!

I can only imagine how good the more expensive stuff is!

Took a trip down to Guildford today to visit Andertons.

Left my existing Vox amp behind and came home with a Boss eband.

Very clever bit of kit, Im happy so far.
