I would just like to join the others on here that have said what a pleasure it is to have my car looked after by Mat. Not only does he clearly know the cars inside out, due to his many years experience of working with them, but he is obviously someone that really cares about the cars as much as we do. I have had my cars worked on by so called specialists in the past and have often been disappointed, usually due to poor communications (phone Oh sorry, we were honestly then going to call you! etc rolleyes), or only attending to some of the jobs on the list and ignoring the ones they don't fancy. No such disappointments with Mat. He phoned when he said he was going to, did we he said he was going to do and charged me a fair price. I wish him every continued success and hope that not too many people read this, so that when I need his services again, I don't have a six month wait! laugh

He's a top bloke, loves his cars, talks for England and is a good mate! I've used Mat now for about 9 years since he was at Sebring Intl and I won't use anyone else to look after my car smile

Works on some exotic cars like LS3 Ultimas. Also does track days with a Chimaera. Likes funny hats.
I should use him more often.

Glad to hear it, Stuart.

I saw your impossibly shiney, Cerbera-seated bright red Chim 500 at Mat's this morning as I dropped mine off. Superb looking car, glad to see it at last.

Mat is concentrating his mind on my front calliper brackets, making sure that the bigger brakes and callipers are as strongly mounted as possible. There goes a man thinking around, through AND outside the box. As well as giving the car a general checkover and removing the stones I seem to have scooped up off a client's driveway. Top engineer.

I travel from The Essex Manor to visit Mat as he is one in a million. Over the years I have used a number of TVR specialist's and have overall been satisfied with most of them.

HOWEVER Mat offers something that I have not so far experience at any other mechanic wether TVR or Not. I have an old classic Jag that I have sadly spent over £20k on with so called Jaguar specialist all over the country, and guess who sorted the car out???? Yes Mr Mat.

I love his honesty, and up front NO cheesy sale's man attitude. Lets hope he never changes!!! I can talk for Britain BUT Mat is in a different league to me all together. Could do with little more milk in that massive fridge of his.biggrin

PS. I dont give out comments like this too generously, but credit is due to the man.

I also have heard nothing but praise for Mat Smith, also Scole Engineering have a good reputation around here although I have not tried them personally, but I did stop by for a chat with the guy when I was in the area and he seemed particularly knowledgeable on the AJP engines and their design faults. Have recently had a good experience with Kerridges of Needham Market, who are enthusiastic, willing to discuss your needs, were fairly priced and did not try to sell me extra work; this was refreshing as there are still one or two obvious issues that are yet to be addressed as with any TVR.

Used Mat last year for my 6K service & MOT. Will use him again this year for the full 12K & MOT in December. Great price and service can't go wrong. Only pain is it takes me 2.5 hrs to get to him. Nothing wrong with those who I have used in the past its just Mat provides equally as good if not better service at a lower cost

That's one very quick Tamora if you can get from Uzbekistan to Downham Market in 2.5 hours........however, as Wisbech, 15 miles away, is known locally as Wisbechistan, thanks to the large eastern European farm worker population, perhaps Uzbekistan is somewhere in deepest Lincolnshire and it's not that quick? hehe
Lovely looking car, BTW.

Mat looking very happy after looking after my girl as usual. Car feels and drives absolutely spot on again, and I am loving the R888, best thing I have ever done in all my years of TVR ownership.

I seem to find myself falling I love with the speed six, thanks to Mat. I still want an LS, I think?

Knowing Mat he will have re-polished that wing after leaning his arm on it. Attention to detail great, even on my scruffy old Chimaera.

Love the Picture, and the car.... Dont go down the Yank route, just buy a corvette or such like and have both .. biggrin

Collected my Tuscan from Mat on friday after a 12k service, great to have it back and all seems that little bit better/sharper, although apparently it wasnt that bad in the first place.

Alignment and Corner weighted and away i went. could have taken the A10 back to Cambridge, but opted for the long way home and arrived 3 hours later to a

"where have you been?".....

Nothing but praise for the old boy, first time i have been to him after advice from Tony (not the dealer) Although i had no complaints with the previous guys i took the Chim too and would happily recommned them, Mat is a little eaiser for me to get to, and i will be returning.. He really does seem to have a lot of love for these cars and the work he does.

What made collecting better was, after all the issue i have had with the previous piece of junk that i bought, he gave this car a full bill of health and said that it seems to be one of the better ones... (always helps saying that when the invoice is handed to you!!)
