Has anyone else noticed more police with speed guns about recently? I think I got pipped between Salhouse and Panxworth yesterday, and my brother saw a couple of lurkers on slip roads this weekend. Also a few more 'heads up's appearing on my facebook feed. I've heard rumours that there's a target for Norfolk and Suffolk constabulary at the minute. Anyone heard similar?

Take it steady folks!

I read somewhere about a motorcyclist very recently getting caught at over 130mph on the A47 or A11.
Perhaps that's prompted them to get out a bit? scratchchin

But I'm sure we're all careful, as I'm sure none of us break the speed limit whistle

I got caught by the Suffolk lot as I joined the A140 after the A14.

Can't say I've noticed an increase in traps, it just took one very sneaky police man and a bit of bad luck.

There have definitely been more speed traps for sure recently and at times that they don't usually operate them. A friend got pulled at 3.30 am on a sat night/sunday morning by a sneaky couple of officers with a speed gun. Never heard of them trapping at that time before.

I've only seen an increase in 30 zones recently, so not too much of a worry.

There's always coppers at the top of the hill and camera vans regularly in Stonham Tap and then further up opposite the Magpie.

TC Snr thinks he was gunned doing <80mph recently by a mobile camera on the dual carriageway. Will have to see what turns up in the post.

I also heard mention of a new camera being installed on Waterworks Road in Norwich - any info on this?

Hmmm ... if only it were that simple.

Not speeding does not auto-equate to being a careful vehicle operator. far from it if my observations locally in recent decades is an reflection of things on our roads nationwide.

This is where the "Speed Cameras" myth breaks down completely. Does precious little to address uncaring or dangerous drivers at all. Mobile plod with plain clothes vehicles would be far more effective doing that if making our roads safer really was the prime motivator and not revenue generation.

I see examples of selfish, bad or even dangerous driving almost every trip nowadays and nothing effective done.

I was doing exactly that!

There's a couple of tarmac cut throughs to allow access to the houses from the south bound side just where the dual carriage way begins to end, he was sitting in one of those.

My comment was an attempt at tongue-in-cheek, hence my "whistle" emoticon.......

I know exactly where you mean. You won't see them until too late as road bends to the left.

Thanks for the heads up, I will make sure any overtake is complete on the straight bit before!

I'm a bit "mutton" on account of high miles on my age clock so did not hear your whistle ... wink

My reply was serious because I feel the scenario is just another example of this nation getting too many things quite simply ... priorities wrong!

I got caught there last year, doing 70 in the 50 just over the brow of hill.

Laser detectors don't work.

I haven't seen a policeman with radar in years. I'm not sure what use detectors are apart from on roads you don't know.

Sell all your expensive cars and buy an electric one that won't do more than 30mph. Problem solved and no more moaning.

I have also seen a camera van parked in a lay-by on the left. That was on a Sunday lunchtime too, not exactly one of the busiest times of day there...

Saw 3 cars pulled over today on the A11 between Wymondham and Spooner Row. Seems odd as I can't recall the last time I saw a car pulled over on the A11, let alone that many on such a short stretch.

One of the police cars was a silver unmarked XF on a '59' - beware.
