Anyone insured with them on a Carrera S and if so how did you get a quote?

they don't believe that Mk1 GT3s exist either

Try Chris Wilkins of Bickley insurance - 0208 773 8123 - he insures a lot of the GT3s around (including mine), and also allows track days to be covered at £79 per day. Tell him Greig McArthur sent you.

The policies he supplies are good quality coverage and he can do nice things like mirroring bonus onto 2 cars - the GT3 quote I got from him wasn't the cheapest, but when he mirrored the bonus onto my old banger the whole package was excellent.

I can second Chris Wilkins. He tends to use NU for providing cover, and as previously stated can offer track cover and mirror bonuses. Not too intereted in 'standard' cars though. Not sure about the S. Give him a call.

Yes, the "S" often comes out on insurer's records as the automatic version, which was called an "S" also.

Well Liverpool Vic might not have the car on their database for 6 months so what a complete joke that company is.

1800 from Bickley so theres my starting point. 30 and full ncd, no accidents or points

Is there anyway you could speak to one of the underwriters at LV and explain exactly what the car is and that it is as it left the factory etc. At some stage the car will be on the database, but only when they've been told about it by someone!

well that would be the sensible thing to do but no I couldn't because the lady on the phone was the only person who could speak to them

Then she told me they update the database every 6 months and until then it may not be on there.

I suggested that maybe this was a strange business practice effectively turning away new profits and she told me that they don't have all the Ford models on the database either. At that point I thought about Hari Kari

Same sort of thing happened to me. I 'phoned Liverpool Victoria to get a quote for my Tuscan S - lady I spoke to said no such thing, not listed so could not give me a quote. I asked to speak to an underwriter personally but was told I was not allowed to (!!) and in any event there was no point because they did not recognise it.

Strange company!

They also appear to have a habit of changing their mind after giving a quote. Doesn't inspire confidence...

That's true. I know someone who was assured, when asking for a quote, that they covered track days. When asked them to put this in writing, there was hesitation, discussion with the "boss" and then the statement that they don't cover track days and they they are now specifically excluded.
