Long term reader, my first post.

As you'll know, most rear wheel drive gearboxes have the change mechanism hanging at the back and over the output shaft. I'm building a Land Rover, and want to fit a non LR box. If you've driven one, you'll know why.

LR boxes have the change mechanism on top, and a nice flat area on the back to allow it to mate to the transfer gearbox, and so this limits me considerably.

My ideal will be 5 or 6 speed and capable of running 300bhp and 300ftlbs of torque - but only very occasionally. The goal is to have the 'sweetest' change. Fabricating adaptor plates is not a problem.

The first person to suggest the box that I actually buy and fit gets a test drive and a pint enroute.

Thank you.

I believe some versions of Type 9 found on the Transit have gear change mechanism on to or to the left side of the main gear case and a short tail housing
