After washing my car earlier this week I noticed two small 5mm diameter cloudy spots on the rear wing. This morning they've grown to this

I presume that the clear coat is failing there and it's going to look a mess and need re spraying. Is there anything I can do to slow/prevent the spread of it?

The car is a 2000 Volvo

Short answer - no.
From the pics it looks like the bonnet and top of the wing have had work on them. If you look lower down on the wing there are nice sharp deep reflections - in comparison the top of the wing and bonnet look hazy.

It's a fold in the bodywork rather than two panels but I see what you mean about the difference. One of the front wings has certainly been repainted in the past (not a great job) so the chances are that this was done then as well.

Oh well, I was just hoping there would be a way to stabilise what was there before I get it painted.
