The Project 7 configuration website is now live, but I am waiting for my personal link and log in etc.

I’ve had a quick look at it (via the dealership demo login and password) and the options are very limited (a good thing as far as I am concerned as pretty much everything is standard).

Options are:

Colour of car – five colours: Green, Black, Red, White and Blue – all no cost options.

Decals – simple yes or no – no cost option

Illuminated Sills - £250 (Project 7 as opposed to Jaguar)

4-Point Harness - £500 (3 point normal belts still fitted)

Slightly different wheels (similar design, but slightly different colour) - £1,500

Steering Wheel in leather (as opposed to Alcantara) – no cost option

And that’s it I think from memory.

I’ll probably go British Racing Green (to mimic the original D-Type), decals, 4-point harness, illuminated sills, alcantara steering wheel and standard wheels.

Total cost £135,750.

Specification / Factory Visit dates are: 3, 4, 5 & 11, 13 Nov - mornings and afternoons. None of which I can make due to work commitments…

My father and I both have our names down for a project 7 we are very excited! Went to FOS on Thursday with a view to buying a overpriced burger and maybe get to sit in a fiat 500, walked away with 2 Jags!

Funny story -

Upon deciding to place my name down for a Pro 7 I walked up stairs and spoke to a girl at a desk.

'Hi I'm here to talk about that flashy Jag downstairs'

Girl looked at me and I think she didn't understand what I said 'Hold on I'll get someone'

Girl came over 'I'm sorry sir you can only have tea and coffee in the pavilion if your a Jag owner, are you a Jag owner?'

Myself 'No I'm not I'm afraid, I drive a Hyundai (very competitive 5 year warranty btw!) but I would like to talk about that Pro 7 downstairs!'

Girl - 'Quizickle look on her face' ohh right, I'll get someone.

Smart looking chap came rushing over lots of hand shaking - 'Would you like tea or coffee?'

Myself - 'No thank you my father and I would like to put our name down for a Pro 7 please, I don't want your tea, just sign the form and we'll be on our way.'

Nevertheless it made me chuckle, we all had a laugh about it, I thought to myself afterwards, do I really look that scruffy and I look that desparate for a cup of tea!

They probably thought who's this youngster trying to get free tea, next he'll be asking for free posters and a pencil sharpener.

Funnily, I did ask for a poster at a later date, I'm still on the look out for a pencil sharpener!

So what is everyone's view on the colour choice?

Not absolutely sure yet, but probably green with decals.

My wife is going to the specification event early next week, so I expect to have a firmer idea after she's been to take a proper look...

My Dad is going BRG with decals I believe. I'm not sure yet, I'm thinking blue or white but I can't decide. I like the decals but also like it plain. I'll give it some more thought and stare at more pictures.

Anyone opting for harnesses?

I had heard that some people requested removal of the rear spoiler, Jag said you can do it but the car will be limited to 150mph, has anyone else heard about this?

I was received a letter from Jaguar urging me to 'be brave in coming forward with requests' when specifying. On asking for a bespoke colour I have been told that it will cost another £10000.00!!!

I'm getting a car but really at this point am wondering why they are calling it a limited edition.. With all the different options they have given already plus then asking if anyone wants this and that it's starting to lose the the concept of been such a marque.. They should have just made the car and said right.. This is it take it or leave it..

I agree bozwink. It should be one colour one spec take it or leave it. Prob BRG, like the launch car. Then you know there are 80 rhd of that type in the world, none are better or worse than each other in anyone's else's eyes! Bit like the original focus RS mk1 (which I have one) that was one colour one spec no options. Are there any other cars that are like that, I've just racked my mind and can't think of many. Peugeot 205 T16, 288 GTO, lancia 037 maybe? All group B cars then!

Attended the Project 7 reception yesterday. Great hospitality, factory tour and enjoyed meeting some of the SVO people behind the project. The only gripe being I still don’t really like any of the standard colours (or the black wheels).

Incidentally, they announced Nurbergring times of 7.35! (achieved repeatedly).

The thing that gets me is that the 5 colours available to us are standard jag colours so not exclusive to the project 7 so anyone can order the said same 5 on other jaguars in the fleet. Being that the case if we are buying the head of the fleet why can't we choose any colour we want like anyone else can. Why are we restricted to just 5 when everyone else buying a jag can choose any colour they like ???

Finalised my specification last night:

British Racing Green
Decals
Black wheels (the standard ones) – I didn’t like the optional ones, I thought they looked a little too fussy
Standard Tyres – I thought about the cup tyres, but didn’t want to limit the use - having had a GT3 RS, I know cups can be a little tricky in certain circumstances
Alcantara Steering Wheel
Harnesses
Illuminated Sills

Cost £135,750 all in.

Roll on May next year and the start of deliveries…

So will the Project 7 benefit from the 2016MY changes that the rest of the F-Type range is due to receive next Spring?

The car colour has been the most difficult choice for me. Jag's marketing concept car was the blue one you'll see in photos on the net. It's an F-type convertible that the design boys have enjoyed getting their hand on I would imagine. It is fitted with red brake callipers, not the yellow callipers which are on the ceramic brakes fitted to the production car. The boot close line running down the aero hump is opposite to that on later British Racing Green car and the pebble beach USA launch white car. The White car has the full F-type widescreen. The blue car is the design teams creative heart felt realisation of what Ian Callum saw on a CAD screen, or so I've read. Clearly the car colour was chosen to be in the spirit of the car. It is Ecurie Ecosse blue and the decals are inspired by the same race team. The Ecurie Ecosse D-types won at Le Mans in '56 and '57.
For me the car had to be that same blue. However, the blue on offer is SVO's Ultra Blue. This is closer to what I would call French racing blue, albeit a metallic finish. In the true spirit of the car, the only standard colour available would be BRG. I've bitten the bullet after much deliberation and specified bespoke Ecurie Ecosse blue. I hope I've done the right thing and delivery is not delayed. I really have my heart set on taking the car to Le Mans in June and I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas!

Sounds like a good choice Trevor. Its what I want but am baulking at the cost. Still have not decided
I could be wrong but I don't think the French blue that is on offer is metallic.
