The P7 purchasing 'journey' has taken a real downturn this week. I got a call from SVO asking if I wanted the number 7 sticking on the car or to have it supplied separately. I confirmed that as I am having bespoke finish to recreate the concept car, and having the decals and stripes painted on, I thought that the options would be to paint the 7 on or supply it a graphic that can be adhered to the car. Painted on decals was something that helped me, in a small way, justify the additional £10k.....it was sounding like I may not be getting what I had been led to believe. After confirming my expectation for a bespoke painted on full concept car recreation, I received this back from SVO.

"At the time of our discussions around spec’ing the car, the information available indicated that the decals would be painted. I have queried this with the bespoke team this afternoon and can confirm that this will not be the case and that the decals will be vehicle graphics adhered to the car. My apologies that I was not able to update you with this sooner.
We are still working to the guide price of £10,000, unfortunately I can’t be more specific at this stage. More detailed information should be released shortly"

I am still having difficulty coming to terms with this. I won't put anyone on the spot by asking 'insider' opinion, but if our insider link to the real world can advise the Bespoke Team differently, it would be much appreciated.....

I'm now wishing I had bought the Carrera GT I had short listed last year....what an in investment that would have been! I am still enthusiastic about the P7, but I'm hugely disappointed too!

Well... Least someone is getting some information.. I feel as if I have been left out in the cold here...
I too have ordered the concept blue and when asked about the Heightened price was told the exact same thing re the painted on stripes and circles, better finish etc that would set it aside to all others.. And that explained gave me an extra bit of fluid to help wash the price down with..
I haven't heard a word for weeks and after getting the email about us all getting a unique web page to track our cars I have heard NOWT ..
Never bought a bran new car before as could never see the point but there was no other way of getting this one so.....
All I'm saying is that this thing should have been there top priority.. The world's Motoring press and us perspective buyers of this special car are looking at this under a microscope so Jaguar should be faultless in there preparation and follow ups...
Gotta say Totally disappointed.. Took all the expectations and thrown them in a corner..

I guess that all prospective ambassadors for the Jaguar brand with our 7s on order, received the positive email at the end of February quoting "even the smallest nut is a piece of precision engineering that must be fitted with the love and diligence it rightly deserves" ....oh yes, sounds good.....and that our unique login to track progress of our cars would be sent to us during March.....yes, that's all jolly nice....exciting times ahead and the 'journey' continues. But has someone in a senior position in SVO (or JLR) lost interest? No update as to why the login was not sent out. An out-of-the-blue call which, by probing, led to confirmation that we are no longer getting what we have been led to believe we are getting and no mention of the login.... Basically it seems that the 10k is not considered enough to paint the car as nicely as the concept car. I think that the white USA specification prototype car we were invited to see at Brown's Lane even had a proper paint job... So what next.....are we to be told that the factory isn't finished and production hasn't started..... speculation? With a bit of luck, things will get back on track and a meeting will be had with the head of the Bespoke team, then the bean counters will realise that this is no longer a profit excessive (leave that to XE), but a marketing exercise to push Jag brand desirability higher. Then we will be told that we are getting exactly what we are expecting.....wishful thinking...I hope not. Fingers crossed because right now I am unsure of what to do next!

Here here Trevor.... I am almost tempted to ask for my money back.. If this is the pre service what is the post going to be like??
I'm sure if I look hard enough I would be able to get a beautiful classic car for the same amount of money which will appreciate as well if not more in time.. Yes I know I shouldn't be thinking in profit/investment but to be fair it did sway me somewhat into wanting to buy this car in the first place.. You can have Stunning, useable and profitable all in one bundle I thought??(just like the Missus..! OK maybe not but...) It would be nice to know that once you have spent that amount of money, and driven it from the main dealer that they would be more than willing to offer you more than two thirds of what you bought it for a week earlier if you then decided to sell it back!!
To be fair I digress... I'm still not happy that I have not heard about the paint change and I even had one of the top men in the team ring me and explain the stripes etc would be painted.. Why has no one informed me of the change ?? I reckon they are well behind on this little bundle and they are just hoping we all sit back and just wait patiently... Mmm On this I am not going to be too obliging.. I really don't want to take delivery early Autumn on this car.. I actually thought we would be seeing the first bunch rolling off by now...
Trevor and I can not be the only people to have taken on the bespoke colour and definitely cant be the only ones with 10k less in our accounts that are wondering what the heck is going on???
So please Jaguar. Sort fast or tell.......

Hello Tony, I am pleased that you can verify that you were also told that the decals were to be painted on. There must be others that made the same choice and for the same reason. I have written to Jenny at SVO expressing my disappointment and would be happy to write back explaining that you are equally concerned and very dissatisfied by this change. If you email me at trevor@opt-tec.com, I will write in again and copy you. I would hope that if there are enough of us expressing our dissatisfaction, we may be able to get SVO to do the right thing and give us what they originally told us we are getting when we made the choice to go bespoke! I am hoping that Harry (M4SER) has read these emails and is in agreement.

Our postings on this forum are followed by JLR, as perhaps would be expected, and they are reviewed and discussed as necessary. I had a call from a new chap at SVO, who looks after customers purchasing expensive cars....so called VIP clients. My rant about the bespoke paint job to include painted on decals has been a subject of discussion and I understand that Harry Metcalfe and Ian Callum have been involved. SVO do not, as yet, have what it takes to customise a bespoke paint finish, so all Project 7s will have graphics adhered to the car. SVO will however equip the paint shop with the necessary gear and skills to offer this in the future. The cost for the non-standard colour has been confirmed at just shy of £8.5k. My car will be completed at the beginning of August. Production will run on through the year. I understand that the production status tracking website has been approved and will go live at the end of the month, so log-in details are running about a month late: I would speculate that production is too. The new chap, Tom Johnson, will be making sure that we are better informed in future. To contact 250 customers personally will clearly take time. I'm know what is what now and am still very much looking forward to delivery (eventually).

Has anyone been able to confirm if all the options from the R are included standard. I am particularly hopeful that the vision pack (auto high beam etc), blind spot monitoring, keyless entry, parking assists etc are included, as they were not options on P7, but can not find confirmation of this.

ordered my BRG P7, still am waiting for definite time for delivery. Today dealership told me about the helmets, that made the wait even more difficult. Anyone here already got it? very curious to see picture of the roof.

What's this about helmets? I've not heard a thing?

I'm afraid I'm out. Enjoy the cars when they arrive.

I’ve withdrawn for a number of unrelated reasons, but I have to say I was disappointed by the lack of communication.

The dealership was excellent, but they can’t tell you what they do not know. I was also frustrated by the lack of information about deliveries and even what the roof may look like. When I ordered I had anticipated delivery at sometime about now, but this still seems to be a way off.

As I said I cancelled for a number of unrelated reasons, but that’s not to say everything was perfect. And I understand the frustration of those still waiting to hear when they will take delivery and what the final specification may eventually be.

My dealer said he will come back to me this week re the helmets. Which i think means that we will all get one [or two] helmets with the car..

First being that my open top sports car will not be delivered until September... Nice one there Jaguar, just in time for winter but oh well
That's a real fail on Jaguar's part. I would have thought owners would have wanted their cars in time for this year's Mille Miglia and Le Mans, instead they will be tucked up under covers for their first 6 months.

The whole process appears to be really poor from the customers point of view.

I was involved with Lexus on the LFA's sold in Europe and customers were treated like royalty.

In Europe you could only purchase from Lexus Park Lane - one point of contact and customers waiting for their cars were extremely well looked after, lots of events were arranged all on a no cost basis, tailored Tumi luggage supplied free of charge, scale models sent out, framed pictures sent out etc etc

Something like Project 7 should be a real halo product and whilst the car itself most definitely is the customer experience surrounding it looks very poor indeed

The feeling from this thread is that people who has actually put a deposit down is coming here to retrieve information!

Hope Jaguar will read this thread and take it seriously. Would be a shame to undermine the experience and the product with a bad customer service!
