When you see them do you think "tt wannabe rockstar" or "poor bugger must be blind". There's no other excuse.

Well, there's one. I have recently started wearing glasses almost all the time so have got used to having them on my face. This weekend I popped into a restaurant for lunch forgetting to take off my prescription sunglasses I was wearing for driving. As I tucked into food I could hardly see I thought to myself "fk me, it's dingy in here". It was only after the meal was finished, paid for and we returned to the car that I realised what I had done.

As long as you didn't have a good rant about them on Trip Advisor talking about how they are trying to save money by keeping the lights switched off.

Seems a bit unnecessary.

You want to get those fancy transitions lenses. It'll never happen again.

OP: couldn't agree more!
You should go on Richard Bacon's 5 Live "Moan In"

Oh, it will - neither light nor dark when you need them to be!

And you can even get them in non peado lookalike frames these days...

Are they terrible?

I've never worn glasses, so I was guessing with my apparent recommendation. I just, sort of, presumed that they work.

Simon.

Apparently these work on UV.
With UV they get dark, no UV they stay clear.

In a car with a UV barrier windscreen they stay clear.

Not great for driving.

(May be urban legend.)

No you can't. Transition lenses = peado. The type of frame matters not.

Op, you need a pair of these. You'll look fine then....

That'll be just about every single female Range Rover driver then.

What about if it was sunny when you set off and they are prescription glasses?

I was in the Savoy Grill having lunch on the day it re-opened a few years back. It was my anniversary, no idea how the wife got the table. There were a few Chef/food celebs about, Ramsay, Marco Pierre White but mostly normal people. It was November and cold and wet.

Some bloke walks past in Sun Glasses, I only noticed the sunnies and said to the wife "what a cock" I thought no more of it.

Turns out it was Nicholas Cage, so right first time really.

Went to Vegas a couple of years ago, got off the plane and took my ordinary specs off and prescription sunglasses on, stuck my specs in my jacket pocket. Got out of the taxi at the hotel and my specs must have fallen out on the floor of the taxi.
Priced up replacement specs in vegas, about £500 quid and decided to wait until i got home.
Spent a week in vegas with sunglasses on all day & night as i wouldn't have been able to see anything otherwise. Got some funny looks even in the place where anything goes.
Sitting in the front row of Blueman group show wearing sunglasses gets you involved in the show whether you want to or not. smile

I hate it too.

Although at Le Mans 2014 at the drivers parade I had pretty bad hay fever so happily walked round the bars/restaurants with sunglasses on still, one of the bouncers did actually ask me to take them off as I went into one of the bars until I took them off and showed him my eyes, he said put them back on smile

Add hats indoors to the list too.
