I've got an A4 Avant in metallic green which has had some oaintwork done on the N/S at some point in it's life.
It appears to have had the rear quarter and both doors done with the wing blown in (badly!).

If I was looking to get it reprinted, what kind of prices should I expect to be paying?

I've no idea about bodywork costs so thought I'd check here to get a rough guide before I start going round getting quotes.

Comfortably four figures. Probably between one and two thousand depending on the extent of the work.

Im taking it from the op its one side you require painting? and its just painting you need? ie no panel work, then, if your looking for better than o/e then it would be about a bag of sand, if not you could probably find somewhere for about half that price.

It's just oaintwork that needs done, no body repairs.

I'm not sure what they've done but the paint just appears dull like it's not been lacquered properly or something like that.

I'm not looking for anything spectacular, just something that will match with the rest of the car. I was Hopi for a price of £5-600 or so.

Depending on what was wrong the first time round it probably cost that much to get it to where it is.

Getting it put right may not be a straight forward case of 'spray over it'. It will probably require flatting back and the previous repair may even need completely sanding off.
I'd budget at least £1k if it's going to be a simple job and £3k+ if it's more tricky.

I think I'll have to just try a couple of body shops for prices and if it's too expensive, it'll stay as it is!

It's not unknown for clear to go dull after a while. It's amazing what a good machine polishing can achieve.Might be worth a try before you go to the expense of having it resprayed.

I thought that was the case initially when I bough the car but after a good clean it appears to be badly painted rather than just dulled paintwork.
It almost looks as if the paintwork's been done but they've not lacquered it, it's got a very dull sheen to it rather than the glassy reflection that the other side has.

I would get someone who knows about paint to have a look. It could be that the clearcoat had been very badly applied, giving a dull finish. It might be possible to sand this flat and then polish it back up. This could work out cheaper.
