First time at the Revival - Dressing up

After years of talking about it and never having the money this year I've finally booked tickets for the Sunday. I'm now left with the conundrum of what to wear so I'm looking for some advice.
My wife and I are hoping to go down in my aeroscreen'd Westfield so ideally I want some sort of fancy dress that will work with that (I.e. Protect my head!). I don't feel I want to dress as a member of the forces but not sure what that really leaves (aside from dressing as a driver) where I can pull off something like goggles and a helmet. Open to suggestions!

Well unless it was Patrick McGoohan I would imagine brown leather brogues, warm trousers, a vyella shirt and tie or rollneck jumper and an old flying jacket, leather bomber or waxed jacket. I have been going for a few years and have got away with a simple pair of white overalls with a Castrol emblem on the breast pocket and back, with a white tee shirt underneath and DM's, works well and you will be one of the very few people who don't look like they have just been discharged from the RAF!!
Some people really go over the top, which is fine and adds to the atmosphere but I go for the cars and the racing - donning a pair of authentic looking 50's overalls is a way of getting into the spirit without going overboard IMHO.
Something like this would do the trick....

True but you'll look one of the many racing driver/mechanics that seem to wander around all day as though they've forgotten where their racing car is

True, although I did go in vintage cycling gear last year as it was 100 years of Tour de France, so not only did I look like I had lost my bike, I also froze!!!

Actually that's early 70s and NOT in period for the revival. They were showing the 1958 British GP video at the end of the day at Goodwood over the W/e. Most of the crowd were wearing plain tailored trousers and white shirts with open necks and rolled up sleeves.
